One-time Opportunities

Spring Forestry Projects

Saturday April 6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
and
Saturday April 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Walker Ranch Open Space - exact location given to registered participants.
Spend a spring morning on open space seeding and mulching scars left by our forest thinning projects. Your efforts will help promote the growth of native vegetation and improve the health of our forests. Can you register for either day or both!

Abert’s Squirrel Monitor

Volunteers monitor Abert’s squirrel populations in ponderosa pine forests to assist in forest treatment planning and post-treatment effects on squirrel populations.

Mining Museum Guide

Do you love sharing stories, talking with people, and have a passion for history? Volunteers are needed to help visitors explore and learn about mining history at the Nederland Mining Museum and the James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum.

Soil Health Monitor

Volunteers assist Boulder County Parks & Open Space conducting in-field monitoring to assess the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil and report data to the county in a timely fashion.

Angler Host

Volunteer Angler Hosts help at kids fishing clinics and family fishing events where they teach beginner fishing skills such as knot tying, casting, and fish handling.

Native Seed Garden Steward

Assist Parks & Open Space plant ecologists in maintaining the Native Seed Garden. Your efforts will help increase the amount of seed available for use in ecological restoration.

Volunteers regularly visit the garden for weeding, monitoring seed development, and reporting any needed maintenance such as irrigation repair, and major herbivory.

Seamstresses and Tailors

We are looking for experienced seamstresses and tailors to help create period clothing for our cultural history programs. Volunteer demonstrators wear these period-appropriate clothes during events at Walker Ranch Homestead where they demonstrate the chores and activities of a working ranch in the late 1800s.
