Judging criteria: The following criteria, as applicable, will be applied to plants entered in BACPS judged competitions.
Horticultural excellence will be the primary factor in making awards. Entries that are comparably well-grown will be differentiated by quality of presentation.
Difficulty of cultivation will be considered in evaluating horticultural excellence. Rarity by itself is not a consideration.
Horticultural Excellence (70 points)
-Vigor: Maturity, size, form, color
-Health: no diseases or pests; no blemishes from disease, pests, sunburn, etc.
-Attention to details: balance and symmetry, training, spacing, condition of companion plants
Presentation (30 points)
-Overall appearance: aesthetically appealing, eye catching
-Grooming: dead leaves & flowers trimmed, weeds removed, pot clean
-Attention to details: container complementary to plant, unobtrusively staked, top dressed if needed.

BACPS Spring Meeting Minutes

Recorded by Gina Morimoto

Approximately 60 people attended the BACPS Spring 2019 meeting, which was held at the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley. The quorum was met, so the General Election proceeded. Before proceeding with voting, a call for nominations for any of the officer positions was made. No nominations were put forth, including for the vacant Secretary position. The candidates running for Officers included:

Board Officers 2019

The election was conducted by asking for unanimous approval of qualified members to state by voice if all candidates running for office should be elected. No members objected. All candidates were elected unanimously.

Gina Morimoto thanked the UC Botanical Garden for hosting us. The annual show and sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 8 at the Lakeside Park Garden Center at Lake Merritt in Oakland. Gina is coordinating the show and sale and asked for volunteers.

Ron Nies announced the Sacramento Carnivorous Plant Society is having their show on June 15-16 from 10am - 4pm, at the Shepard Garden Center, 3330 McKinley Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95816.

Towards the end of the meeting, Cara Ching agreed to be the new secretary. By the end of the meeting, the BACPS had a new Board. The final 2019 Officers are as follows:
