Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,

Happy Wednesday!  My letter this week will be short and sweet since I will be seeing you all tonight or tomorrow at our State of the School meetings.  Please remember that these meetings are mandatory in order to re-enroll for next year.  Families who do not attend will be required to meet with me individually prior to receiving registration materials.  Please make all efforts to be in attendance at one of the three offered times: tonight at 6:30 or tomorrow at 7:45 AM or 12:00 PM. All meetings will be in the Assumption Parish Fellowship Hall.

Fundraising for our Walk-a-thon is in full swing and we need 100% of families to participate!  Check out the details below in the Development section. The online link you received for your child(ren) is super easy to use and send out to family and friends.  Many thanks to Sydnie Taylor-Vance and Jamie Bergman for all of their hard work! Don’t forget that in addition to prizes for the top fundraising students and classes, if we meet our goal of $50,000, students from five lucky families will get to dunk yours truly in a dunk tank.  I am sure it will be a nice, hot day on April 12th!

A special note of congratulations to our staff Big Climb Team who completed this race Sunday morning, raising $2100 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!  Combined with the $2000 students raised in our Pennies for Patients drive, we were able to donate over $4100 to this important cause in honor of ASB alum Henry Streuli. Great job Mr. Hastings, Mrs. Uhlman, Ms. Dietz, Mrs. Ramach, Ms. Lowe, and Mrs. Riggle!

Jerry Herman’s beloved classic,  Hello, Dolly!

Camp ASB 2019 Registration is now OPEN!

Camp ASB registration forms are now available.  The Camp ASB calendar will be completed this week and should be available on the website and in the newsletter, next Wednesday.

This summer at Camp ASB we have decided to adjust our rules surrounding electronic devices and allowing students to use electronic devices at Camp ASB.  I would like to first state that the reason that we allow electronic devices at Camp ASB is rooted in our parent community and their request many years ago to allow students to use electronic devices, at approved times.  We try to create an environment that allows our campers the opportunity to choose activities that are not limited to what the school or Camp can offer.  With all that being stated, I want to assure parents that the use of electronic devices is still the choice of the parents that are sending their children to Camp ASB.  Camp ASB does not provide electronic devices, we only allow students to use devices that their parents have allowed them to bring to Camp.

Electronic Devices at Camp ASB

  1. Electronic devices (tablets, phone, portable video game systems) are allowed at Camp ASB (summer only) during designated free choice times.
  2. All content accessed on the device must be school appropriate.  (G or PG, 4+ or 9+, etc.)
  3. Students WILL NOT be allowed access to the school WiFi.
  4. Students that choose to bring a device, will be allowed to use it by themselves.  This is not a group activity, and other students will not be allowed to look on, watch, or participate with any device, other than their own.
  5. The approved hours that devices may be used, are from 8-10 am, as students arrive in the morning, and 5-5:45 pm as students are getting picked up in the afternoon.
  6. We have removed Wii Wednesday, from the Camp ASB calendar.  We still may use the Wii or the Kinect at times during the summer, but it will not be a regularly scheduled event.
  7. Camp ASB is willing to work with individual families and will try to respect each family's rules about screen time.

I am also happy to announce that Camp ASB will again be partnering with Hoopaholics Basketball to offer a Camp ASB Basketball Camp the week of July 22-26. 2019.  To register for the camp, please click on the link below.
