Rev. Merlin Hunter
1930-2019
While we grieve the loss of our brother and colleague, we celebrate the home going of Rev. Merlin Hunter on March 16, 2019. Merlin Hunter was born April 29, 1930, in Montrose, Colorado, and was born again in May of 1947. He was called to preach in June of the same year. He finished high school in Council, and then attended Northwest Nazarene College (now NNU) to prepare for the ministry.
Merlin married Alice Marie Jessee on September 9, 1950. Merlin graduated from college in May of 1952, and then attended Nazarene Theological Seminary. Merlin's pastorates included: Grass Valley, North Highlands (now Liberty Towers), Lodi, Cordova, and Lemmon Valley (now North Valleys). Merlin and Alice also served in full-time Missions to Trinidad and Tobago for 8 years, and in Israel, working with Arab Christians for 8 years.
There will be a memorial service to honor the life and ministry of Rev. Hunter on Saturday, April 27, 2:00 pm, at Pleasant Grove Community Church, 1730 Pleasant Grove Blvd, Roseville, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Nazarene Global Missions in honor of Merlin Hunter.
