From the Desk of the City Manager

Good afternoon. I hope you all are well.

This week, it was with mixed emotions that I announced my departure from the City of Lexington to accept the position of Assistant Town Manager in Westlake, Texas. I will save my official farewell message for a future date, as I will continue to complete projects and carry out day-to-day administration and strategic initiatives until the end of April. For now, I am humbled and honored to have served as your City Manager for the past four and a half years and feel a strong sense of pride when looking back on what our city has been able to accomplish and deliver to our community in that time. More information about this announcement can be found in the city's press release.

The following report for this week includes the weekly calendar and other updates and announcements. Have a splendid weekend.

Yours Truly,
Noah A. Simon

The Lexington Planning Commission is considering an amendment to the zoning ordinance that would consist of regulations for the keeping of chickens in Lexington. Prior to the drafting of any ordinance language regarding chickens, the Planning Commission wants to hear from the public. Thus, a public input session will be held on March 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Lyburn Downing Middle School cafeteria (302 Diamond Street) for the public to share any experience or expertise.

Planning staff will shortly review the discussion that occurred in 2012 regarding chickens and provide a list of pros and cons that were part of that discussion. The list of pros and cons will be posted prior to Thursday's session on the web page linked below. We ask that you review the staff provided list and provide comment that will add to the discussion.
