Fruitless
By Doug Bing, Washington Conference president
This past Wednesday was the first day of spring! I celebrated by going out into my front yard and taking pictures of the flowers and the cherry trees that were blooming. I really like spring. I like to plant things and I like to see them grow. I also like to harvest the produce. A few years ago, our cherry trees came out in full bloom. The color was amazing and the bees were quite happy. You could stand below the trees and just listen to the humming that was coming from the trees above you. It was a glorious sight.
The problem, however, was when it came to harvest. For some reason, that year the ratio of cherries to cherry blossoms was not even close! In fact, it was hardly worth the time to go out and try to find the few cherries that did ripen. It was very disappointing and I was thinking that it was a total waste and that maybe we needed different kind of trees. But the next year for whatever reason we had a great crop!
Continue reading to see how Doug connects his experience with the cherry blossom trees harvest to the story of the fig tree!

How does the Washington Youth Offering benefit ministry?
One Sabbath each month, we have an opportunity to give to the Washington Youth offering. This important offering helps to benefit Children's and Youth ministries, Pathfinders & Adventurers, Sunset Lake Camp, Youth Adult ministries, and Adventist Education. Jerry Russell, Washington Conference vice president for finance, reports that in 2018 a total of $221,352 was given to benefit these ministries! We thank you for giving to and supporting these important ministries.
This Sabbath's Washington Youth offering goes to benefit Young Adult ministries! As you think and pray about your offering, please consider supporting this ministry to continue helping churches in the Growing Young Cohort to grow young in their ministry, host spiritual retreats to build community and support, and reach the young adults in western Washington.

What is a Constituency Session?
The Seventh-day Adventist church as a representative form of governance. It recognizes that authority rests in the membership and is expressed through duly elected representatives at each level of organization. This authority is expressed by a constituency session, a gathering where delegates representing the member units in a church organization meet to conduct essential business for that organization.
How does this constituency session work in the Adventist church? Watch this video from the North American Division Secretariat to learn more!
