Hello Fleurieu Lovers,
It's wonderful to be back in my beloved Fleurieu after a few weeks of globe trotting, managing a weekend on home soil before another gruelling week at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), this year in Perth. Although I needed to wash some clothes before packing for the ATE, I kicked the domestic duties to the kerb, to enjoy a taste of Tasting Australia (Fleurieu style) at the Peninsula Providore's inaugural Olive Festival at Tooperang. What a great festival with music, wine, workshops and of course olives! One to put in your diaries for next year. After feasting at the Olive Fest, I made my way to McLaren Vale to join the madness that was The Surrealist Ball at d'Arenberg Cube. This was a feast for the eyes, much fun and as outrageous as you can imagine. Words fail me.

One day of the weekend left to enjoy, so I lined up on the Sunday with thousands on Main Road for the fantastic McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic. What a wonderful spectacle with the town consumed by the 100's of cars and bikes on show. Parade done, the cars (and patrons) peeled off to their designated wineries for more show off time, giving us all plenty of food and wine options to enjoy the afternoon. Another one for the diary next year.

With school holidays and Easter well underway, there is plenty to do and see across the entire Fleurieu. But if you're looking for a bit of west coast fun, Festival Fleurieu with much to offer comes to a close Easter Monday, so check out their program!

Also, a quick reminder that TiCSA have a great training session on 01st May to help you convert sales from your website... and back in region on the 7th May to talk all things SA Tourism Awards. Don't miss out!

And now to get some washing done. Until next time...

Warm Regards,
Nat Kirby  😎

Australian Tourism Exchange

It was a pleasure to represent the Fleurieu Peninsula at the ATE in Perth this year. With 100's of tourism trade shows to choose from world wide, the ATE is the largest Australian held show and managed by Tourism Australia. Attended by more than 2000 retailers and wholesalers as well as media from around the globe, it's an opportunity for the Fleurieu as a region to be showcased to trade and media. It also gives a chance for participating operators to have their businesses considered for itineraries or listed on trade consumer sites.
While I met with a good mix of trade from the UK, USA, Singapore, New Zealand, China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as Australian trade, ATE also provides the opportunity to meet with SATC and Tourism Australia staff posted overseas - they too get an update of the region, many of them are trainers to the trade.
