Values

View this email in your browser
While working for CBM I learnt the importance of agreeing Values and then putting them into practice in daily living to change “the culture” of an organisation; we challenged one another when “Our Values” were not being lived out; it was challenging but also rewarding.

When we practice our Values they are seen in our behaviour.
In the Old Testament we read that at times the people of God followed God’s values and at other times rebelled against His values.

Today in society we see the importance of practising good values in the family – for example, respect, honesty, love - and the difficulties children have if these values are not found in the home.

As well as a Vision and a Mission, St James has Values.

The first is “God First”. If we put God First in our lives then His Values will begin to fill our lives.

The problem I find is that I put first the things I want to do and then try to “fit God in” when I get chance. In behaving this way I am showing God that I do not value Him, He comes second or even lower down my priority list!

God First – a Value to be put into practice each day.

Why Pray?

Journey to Easter - Prayer Week

Where: the Prayer Room in the Parish Centre
When:  Sunday 14th April from 1pm to
Saturday 20th April at 7pm.

Holy week gives us the opportunity to take time to journey with Jesus through this momentous week.  There is something profound in preparing ourselves for Easter and pressing deeper into God during the weeks leading up to it.  The prayer room will be interactive to help us reflect on the different aspects of the journey.
Please help those who are unable to access the internet.  You can book them in using your email address or there is a sign-up sheet in the Parish Centre.
The New Wine 'family' gathers of over 2000 local churches in the summer to celebrate everything God has done in our lives, and to encounter Him afresh together and take His blessing back to our local churches and communities – to see the nation changed.

Peter and Rosie invited you to join them on site for this week.  If you have booked a place would you let us know, but unless you'd like to serve on a 'Team' (which by the way is also a great opportunity), you will now have to wait until June to find out if day-tickets are available.

Please speak to Peter if you would like to know more about serving on 'Team'.
