SCHEDULE
PARENTS CORNER

 Dear Parent,

I want to let you know that we’ve just covered lesson three of Proof , the 6-lesson study from the Book of John that teaches about Jesus’ identity through John’s eyes. The first lesson laid the foundation for the proof  of Jesus’ identity by establishing Jesus as the “Word” who came as a human being to open the door for us to be children of God. The second lesson built on that glorious truth. The third lesson shifted from opposition against Jesus to showing His compassion for others.

The third lesson was entitled “Power on Display” and focused on John 11:1-4, 11-14, 17-25, and 38-46. The point of the lesson was that students would begin to relate to Christ in a way that shows they understand His great compassion and love for them.

Next Steps . . .

As you go through your week with your child, look for instances to create some dialogue based on the theme of this lesson. Consider discussing the following questions or concepts:

• Discuss with your child the power of Jesus and how you have seen Jesus work powerfully in your life or the life of someone you know.

• Remind your child of the story of Lazarus. See if he or she can recount it to you. Then, ask if he or she was surprised by the compassion that Jesus showed for Lazarus’ family in John 11.

• Ask:  Has there been a time in your life when you have felt comfort from Jesus?

• Describe to your child a time in your life when you have felt comforted by Jesus. Talk about how we can draw comfort for the future from God’s past faithfulness.

Pray that God will move your child and our student ministry to see hurting people like Jesus does. Pray that through the work of the Holy Spirit our students will embrace the comfort of Christ and extend that same comfort to others. Lesson 3
