✔️ Phonebank for Spring Election 2019!

When: Tuesday, March 26th to Thursday, March 28th, from 4pm to 8pm
Where: Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S Park St #106, Madison

Note: Team 19 has endorsed Cristiana Carusi or Kaleem Caire for seat 3; Ali Muldrow for seat 4; and Ananda Mirilli for seat 5. We have endorsed Satya Rhodes-Conway for mayor, and Lisa Neubauer for Supreme Court. The election is Tuesday, April 2nd.

"Come join us at the labor temple to phone fellow union members and families to remind them to vote Lisa Neubauer for the Supreme Court and for other locally endorsed candidates! Snacks and good company provided.

"East Side Progressives will host a forum with a new twist on Sunday March 24th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Lake Edge Lutheran Church, 4032 Monona Dr. (parking in back on Hegg ave.) This will be combined mayoral and school board forum.

All the candidates will be interacting with one another as they answer questions and share their ideas about future cooperation between the City of Madison and the Madison school board . Many issues that affect the Madison Metropolitan School district are also those that affect the City of Madison.

Every school board candidate who won their primary and both mayoral candidates have been invited. Open to the public."

🎥 Film Screening: "12th and Delaware"

When: Wednesday, March 27th, from 7pm to 9pm

"Crisis pregnancy centers are popping up all around the country in close proximity to abortion clinics. These centers are FAKE healthcare centers that lie to, shame, and intentionally mislead women about their reproductive health choices and block them from obtaining abortions. It is imperative that we educate ourselves about crisis pregnancy centers and discuss how our community can lead campaigns to expose these fake clinics.

Come join the Madison Abortion Defense for a screening of the 2010 documentary, "12th and Delaware", and then a short discussion following the film about crisis pregnancy centers and how they pose a threat to reproductive health in the United States and in Madison. 12th and Delaware is set on a street corner in Fort Pierce, Florida that is home to both an abortion clinic and a crisis pregnancy center, and the documentary follows the tension between the two centers."

🧕🏼 Supporting Refugee Students in Higher Education

"Join WISCAPE for an informative session centered on supporting refugee students in higher education.

Our conversation will include an overview of statistics and the living realities of refugees in Wisconsin, with a focus on debunking myths surrounding the refugee population. The panelists will discuss challenges that refugee newcomers encounter in the American school system; barriers to accessing college; and practices for supporting refugee students in higher education."

What is a POWER Collective Political Education Community Cypher?

The P.O.W.E.R. Collective’s Political Education Community Cyphers functions as a collaborative space where scholars can work alongside community members, organizers and practitioners to address social and political matters that are pertinent to broader community development.

What is the theme of this year’s Community Cypher? 

In the radical educational legacy of our ancestors, this years theme will examine policing and surveillance in relation to anti-blackness and other forms of oppression. This cypher is designed to shift approaches regarding how we understand, analyze, and address issues related to surveillance and policing in this current movement. One of the central objectives of the cypher is to grapple with more Black radical “interventions” and “solutions” to state and world sanctioned violence which includes police and prison abolition. Our cypher will be facilitated by P.O.W.E.R. members and both academic and community-based guest speaker(s)."
