Warren and I have emerged from winter unscathed eager to greet the lengthening days! This year it's a bit strange for me (Catherine) as I am getting ready to make a trip to Tasmania, Australia where they are heading into the autumn months. I am really excited to go again to stay with our friends Ben and Peta Richardson at Ridgeline Pottery to work side-by-side with a great line up of other potters and then fire Ridgeline's wood kiln together. After that we will all participate in the Australian Ceramics Triennale in Hobart.
Warren will stay here in Virginia holding down the fort and work quietly towards our spring firing in May. Warren works best with time to explore ideas. Even if some end up being digressions, he often finds innovative solutions to ideas that have been itching his imagination.
In June during session 3 at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina Catherine will be teaching a class called Woodfiring and the Expressive Hand. Warren will be contributing his expertise in firing the wood kiln there.
