The Capstone International Center, along with local sponsors, organizes the annual Cherry Blossom / Sakura Festival. This yearly event is a way for the Tuscaloosa community to learn about the longstanding relationship our city has with Japan, especially with our sister city, Narashino.
Attendees can observe taiko drumming, hear a Japanese guitarist, learn to eat with chopsticks, play popular Japanese children’s games, and more. Stop by the Tuscaloosa Sister Cities booth and pick up an uchiwa (traditional Japanese fan) to keep cool during the day.

Global Cafe participants from the U.S. and around the World invite you to join us as we relax, play games, and make friends. Free and open to the public. Food and conversation 5:00 pm. Games and activities 5:30 pm. All are welcome.
You are the focus at Global Café. Evenings at Global Café are opportunities to socialize and meet leaders from campus and community organizations. Global Café provides a chance for people from our community and students from our campuses to welcome world visitors, an international connection for American travelers, and a resource for conversation partners practicing language. Global Café, an initiative of The University of Alabama Center for Community-Based Partnerships, is created by campus and community partners working together: Capstone International Center,Tuscaloosa’s One Place, the CCBP Student Leadership Team, Shelton State Community College, Stillman College, Tuscaloosa City Schools, the Tuscaloosa County School System, and Tuscaloosa Public Library.
