Dear Rosemount High School Families:

My name is Mike Floersch and I am a math teacher at Rosemount High School.  I applied for and received a grant from the Rosemount Foundation to build an outdoor classroom behind our school.  This will be a 24’ by 36’ pergola structure with a canvas top, a whiteboard system, and 9 picnic tables underneath.  The flooring, due to funds, at this point will be simply indoor/outdoor carpet until we can come up with another option like patio blocks or concrete (maybe an Eagle Scout project?).  The classroom, when completed, will provide teachers and students a creative learning space where collaborative learning can be maximized.

I have done all of the busy work of getting a design and permit to build this and now I am waiting for good weather.  Once the ground dries out I am looking for parent volunteers to help me build this large structure.  We will have to do this in shifts.  Unfortunately, the location of the classroom structure is back behind the school next to the library so it isn’t easily accessible and we will have to plan accordingly.  The first order of business will be to dig the 5’ deep by 18” diameter footings.  If you have access to an earth auger that we can use to dig these holes please let me know.  Otherwise, I will need to rent one from Home Depot.  The second item on the list is to make concrete in a mixer and fill the footings.  This will include bringing the bags of concrete around from the front of the building.  Once the footings are complete then it is a matter of building the structure.

If you can help out, please go to this google form and fill it out:

Thank you for anything you can do to help.
