Kia ora everyone. As-Salaam-Alaikum. Peace be with you.

Today marks one week from the tragic terrorist attacks at mosques in our city. There are many events remembering the tragedy today.

At 1.30 pm the Muslim Call to Prayer - the Adhan -  will be sounded , and will air across RNZ and free to air TV channels nationally. At 1.32 people there will be two minutes of silence nationally. Full details of the events can be found here: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-shooting/111473540/christchurch-mosque-shootings-live-one-week-on-from-attack-which-changed-new-Zealand

Rev. Thomas Brauer from the Sumner-Redcliffs Anglican Parish has asked me to pass on this message:

Dear friends,

In conjunction with the Prime Minister’s office, all churches in New Zealand have been invited to participate in a national act of remembrance commemorating the abhorrent events of 15 March.

This act of remembrance is to include prayer, a time of silence, and the ringing of church-bells across the nation at precisely 3pm. Each bell is to be rung 50 times in remembrance of each person killed last Friday.

I would like to invite all members of the Redcliffs and Sumner communities who are able to join us at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 148 Main Road, Redcliffs to participate in this special event.

The bells will be rung at precisely 3pm, so please arrive by 2.45 in order to be ready. We will try to have some tea and coffee available after for a time of community gathering and conversation.

If you have any questions or would like to reach out for any reason, please feel free to do so. My details follow.

May the peace of God be with you all.

Yours sincerely,

Thomas
