Chanting Workshop

Dr. Paul Rorem has graciously offered to lead us in a brief chanting workshop following Holden Evening Prayer. This will be a great opportunity to acquire (or further develop) a skill. Come on out and chant a little.

Senior Chapel Service

Amy Jensen, a Lutheran MDiv Senior and Vice President of The Lutheran Group, will be leading daily chapel this Friday. Dr. Paul Rorem and Dr. Dennis Olson will be participating in the service. She will be preaching on Psalm 139. Come out and support one of our fellow Lutherans.

This week, Hephzi will be leading us in a study on Romans 11:1-36. You can sign up here to lead a particular day, or check out the corresponding page numbers in Luther's commentary. We look forward to seeing you for a meal, fellowship, and a semester-long study of Romans on Saturdays at 6:00pm.

Every year Lutheran students from Princeton, Yale, Harvard, and Union (the Diaspora) gather for a time of study and fellowship.This year's Lutherans in Diaspora / Lutherans of Other Folds Together (LOFT) Conference will be held April 26-27 at Harvard Divinity School. This is at the end of our Reading Week. If you are interested in attending (or have any questions), please email Zach (zachary.wright@ptsem.edu) by APRIL 8. We need to know how many people are going to see how much of the costs can be covered. 

Below are a few more details that have become known to us:

  • It'll start at 5:00 p.m. Friday. There is a community service project, if we get there earlier.
  • Paul Baglyos, ELCA region 7 and 8 coordinator, will be joining us Friday after dinner to talk about how he can support Lutheran students at our four schools.
  • There is a general registration fee of $25.
  • Students will be able to spend Friday night in Harvard Square at University Lutheran Church, which converts its homeless shelter into a dorm during the summer. There is an additional $25 fee for those who stay at UniLu.
  • On Saturday, there will be a panel on Politics and the Pulpit, and breakout sessions about first-call experiences (with first-call young pastors) and about doctoral study.
  • There will be plenty of time to chat with fellow Lutherans of other folds.

More details to come later. Please put this event on your calendar! This is especially a time for us to honor and send off our graduating students. As is our tradition, we will meet at Prof. Rorem's house, pizza and beer will be provided, and everyone except those graduating is encouraged to bring sides, drinks, and desserts to share.
