Teachers open the doors, but you must enter by yourself. Chinese Proverb

San Shou Kuan was recently invited to participate in Sanda Fight Night 7.  This only after four years in the BCCMA fight scene.  These events are a mix of amateur, pro-am and youth Sanda competitions.

San Shou Kuan has won British National medals in Youth, Adult and Veterans tournaments. We are gaining the respect of other clubs with a much longer pedigree than ourselves -  a great achievement for such a young organisation.

Anyone see the posters?

John Machell has taken every opportunity in all our San Shou Kuan; Taolu (forms) and Sanda (full contact) comps,  all that hard work is paying off - a lot of value in producing good explosive forms.  Starting at novice level he has fought in three National competitions and won British Sanda and Qinda (semi contact) titles. At SFN7 the GB Squad coaches were very impressed but alas his opponent just edged the decision - an excellent opportunity to learn from.

Artur - U16 youth division

Artur, training just over a year,  seizing all opportunities in SSK and BCCMA novice competitions;  with only 2 loses to the same opponent he fought again at SFN7.   Artur simply attacks the basics in our classes and now a regular at the Watford Thursday Sanda class started by John,  This is now run by David whilst John is overseas.  A small class so he’s had a lot of attention (Massive thank you to Adam and Simon who have been helping as sparring partners).

"Thank you to everyone that came along – Pete did an awesome job helping out.  Nic C, Jane A,  Paul Jacobs,  John’s dad,  Artur’s friend and Glen from ZJK.  I could hear you all cheering on our guys from ringside; it makes a big difference to a fighter:  You’re  knackered and just every now and then you hear a supportive shout to help lift you".......Dave
John’s awards, coaching certs, trophies and medals from training hard and taking every opportunity offered through San Shou Kuan training and the BCCMA.
In addition to full contact 'Sanda' the BCCMA also organise semi-contact competitions for: juniors (16 and under), novices, seniors and veterans (35 to 50).  So if you have never fought in a competition these should on your agenda.  It is  not too late, seize that opportunity, no matter what the outcome we guarantee you will learn a lot about yourselves. Like taking your Black Belt grading, working outside your comfort zone is where the magic happens.

And, as it happens....the next BCCMA event on the 7th July incorporates Sanda, Semi-contact, Veteran, Novices and Junior competitions.  So what are you waiting for - give it a go!
