Physician Scientist Pipeline Task Force
The Department of Medicine is launching a task force that will identify strategies to improve the recruitment, training, and support of physician scientist trainees throughout the department. We are looking for trainees from all stages of development (residency, fellowship and junior faculty) as well as senior faculty interested in providing input on how the department can better support the physician-scientist pipeline. If you are interested in participating or would like to provide feedback, please email the task force chairs, Catherine Smith (Catherine.smith@ucsf.edu) and Kamran Atabai (Kamran.atabai@ucsf.edu).

Updated Policy Regarding Conducting Research in the Emergency Department
Our colleagues in Emergency Medicine wanted to share with us an updated policy about research done with patients who are in the ED at Parnassus, Mission Bay & ZSFG. They are very reasonably requesting that they are made aware of all studies being conducted in the ED through a streamlined process outlined in this document. The Department of Emergency Medicine has a terrific and growing research program and we encourage any and all collaboration with their investigators.
