I thought that this meeting being held on Mothering Sunday would be less well attended than normal. How wrong I was! To say the least the room was packed with guests and friends, which led to a very well subscribed raffle – thanks again to those who donated prizes.
For the second meeting we again had two keyboard players and two drummers. I think we need to expand the white board to include our drummers and I also think we now need to include bass and rhythm to ensure “fair playing” for all members. Please feel free to let me, Martyn or Duncan know what you think. I have said this before, it is your club and we administer it on your behalf so it may be enjoyed by all members.
I have recently spoken to Duncan who let me know he is on the mend and all going well will be able to make the next meeting. Fingers crossed.
We had excellent debuts from new members Justin and his son Brandon and look forward to hearing more from them. Charlie, our late member Geoff’s grandson also played rhythm in both band sets. The standard of our playing continues to improve, but most importantly there is a very good, friendly and happy atmosphere .
It is sometimes strange how things work out, as due to our next meeting being a week earlier, neither of our “regular” drummers, Peter and Malcolm can make it. However I am pleased to say the Neil will be able to make this meeting and be our drummer – a veritable one man band.
That’s about it and just to reiterate, the meeting will be a week earlier than normal, so see you on April 21st. I will put out a reminder nearer the time.
