This month, Metro Bike Share will be at CicLAvia - Wilmington on Sunday, April 28th. Metro Bike Share will have two booths on the route at Waterfront Park West and Banning Park. There are also four Classic Metro Bike Share stations set up along the route for easy access to bikes!

Pro tip: download the Metro Bike app and be sure to register your TAP card online and enroll in a Metro Bike Share pass for the quickest and simplest access to bikes on the day of CicLAvia. Don't have a TAP card? You can add one to your cart online when you enroll!

Is your Metro Bike Share game on lock?

Metro Bike Share now has two different bikes and we want to offer some helpful tips to make sure you end your trips confidently and securely!
Smart Metro Bikes
Smart Metro Bikes are the white and teal bikes that you can find on the Westside. You can lock these bikes for FREE at any Smart Metro Bike station (check the map online or in the app if you don't know where those stations are). For a $2 convenience fee, you can lock a Smart Metro Bike to any public bike rack within the Westside service area (again, check the map and the app for service area boundaries).
Be respectful of the surrounding community, space, and other road users! Wherever you choose to end your trip, always lock Smart Bikes to a secure fixture like the docks at a Smart Metro Bike station or to a public bike rack.
- Tip #1: Don't forget the U-lock! You're going to need it to end your trip. When unlocking a Smart Bike, be sure to secure the removed U-lock in the designated slots located in the front basket.
- Tip #2: Download the Metro Bike app to view the Smart Metro Bike service area. You'll be able to see Smart Metro Bike stations where you can lock for free. Be aware that if you lock a Smart Metro Bike to a public bike rack outside of the service area, you will be charged a $20 convenience fee!

Classic Metro Bikes
Classic Metro Bikes are the black and green bikes that you see in DTLA, Central LA, and the Port of LA. Never leave Classic Bikes unattended. Unlike Smart Bikes, Classic Bikes must be returned and docked at a Classic Metro Bike station. Again, the map and the app are the best resources to find nearby Classic Metro Bike stations where you can end your trip.
- Tip #1: To return the Classic bike, push the bike firmly into the dock and listen for three beeps to confirm your ride has ended.
- Tip #2: Travelling to the Westside from Central LA? Take the Expo Line instead. While we admire the ambition, a Classic Metro Bike is probably not the best option if you plan on travelling from Central LA to the Westside. There are no Classic Metro Bike stations on the Westside and therefore no place to end your trip!
