This Weekend at First Lutheran

Take Stock in Our Youth! – This weekend is the last weekend to invest our Middle and High School summer mission trips by purchasing stock in the endeavor. Every investor will receive a stock ticket for our 5th Annual Shareholders Dinner in August. The dinner will include many of the youth sharing stories and songs from their experience in Kansas City and Nashville! Stocks are available in $10, $20, $50 and $100 amounts.

This Weekend in Worship

Preaching: Pastor Steve Knudson
Sermon: "Smelly Grace"
In the first reading, the Apostle Paul compares Jesus to everything else in life. There is nothing better. In the Gospel, Judas misinterprets as waste Mary’s extravagant act of anointing Jesus’ feet with costly perfume. Jesus recognizes that her lavish gift is both an expression of love and an anticipation of his burial.

Scripture Readings:
Philippians 3:4b-14  John 12:1-8 NRSV

Special Music:
5 p.m. Violin Soloist
9:00 a.m. High School Handbells
11:15 a.m. Adult Choir

Affirmation of Baptism! This weekend we are celebrating with 16 of our youth who will be affirming their baptismal promises at the 9 & 11:15 a.m. worship services.

This Weekend in Sunday Morning Learning

How On Earth Do I Read Through Leviticus?! – Pr. Craig & Intern Michelle, LFC
“This is year I’m finally going to do it!” you tell yourself.  You set out to read the Bible and then quickly find yourself mired in Levitical law. What to do now?  Don’t fret!  Intern Michelle and Pr. Craig will give you some tips to navigate the rough patches and get back on track.

It's A Milestones Weekend for Grades 2-4!
Milestones is a series of classes in which children learn about the "whos, whats, whys, and hows" of the faith, and equips parents as the primary developers of faith in their children. This weekend we ask that at least one parent of kids in 2nd through 5th Grade accompany their children to their Sunday Morning Learning classes.

Help the Comfort Makers – The Comfort Makers are in need of sheets to be used for quilt liners and quilt backing. The group is accepting donations of any size and color, new and used, cotton/blends or flannel sheets. Please place your donations in the tote near the Welcome Desk. We appreciate your support!

The staff would like to invite you to our sit-down dinner with roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad, and dessert on Maundy Thursday, April 18; it’s completely free, and immediately follows the noon worship service. It’s a tradition at FLC for the staff to serve the congregation just like Jesus demonstrated service to his disciples, and we would love to see you there!
Could You Provide a Jell-O™ Salad or Dessert? If you can’t join us for lunch on Maundy Thursday, April 18, could you please prepare and drop off a Jell-O™ salad or dessert for us to serve? If so, please email Tammy Horak at tammyh@firstlutherancr.org so we'll know it's coming.
