 From the President

This is an exciting time for WTWS.  The 41st Annual Lubbock Art Festival will be Saturday, April 13-14 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.  Visual Artists, Craftsmen, Juried Art Gallery, Multiple Children's Activities, Singers, Musicians, Dancers, and Actors will be participating.  The festival includes 150 Artists!  In preparation for our booth we are having another Paint-In April 6, 10:00-2:00 at the Legacy.  Bring your art supplies, one or two small gallery wrapped cotton canvases, your ideas, your lunch and a spirit of fun.  We'll have alcohol to clean the canvases, paper towel, coffee, and water.  JoBeth and others will be there willing to help.  All the preparation for the art festival is going to result in an eye catching WTWS booth full of bright, inviting displays.  I really appreciate all the members that signed up to help in our booth.  It is always a rewarding and fun time.  I would also like to remind everyone about the Spring Show April 5-25 at the Garden & Arts Center.

Somewhere inside each of us is a longing to make things - art, music, writings, hand--knit sweaters, or loaves of bread.  We are creative beings and our choice in life is to nurture and grow our creativeness or let it stay dormant.  We must allow ourselves to try, to fail, and then try again.  This continual process moves us forward in our desire to create.  I have a great appreciation for the hard work and time of our members as they each progress and grow in their art journey.  When I think of our members that are further along in their journey it continually encourages me that so many are so willing to reach back to help others learn and grow.

Don't forget our Paint-In, Art Festival, and Spring Show!

"No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late, or selfish, or silly to work on your creativity."   ~Julia Cameron~

Splash of RED & Rose' (VI)

The Legacy will be unable to host FFAT on April 5th, due to a wedding.

Emily Sharpe would prefer that WTWS artists leave in place any RED Show art pieces that they do not need for the near future. If artists need a piece from that show, they may pick up beginning April 6th during the Paint-in, or during Legacy open hours beginning Monday, April 8th. (Check in with Legacy Staff to remove any art piece.)

If artists have a similar sized replacement piece for one that they need to remove, please email Kathryn (kathyt88@gmail.com) the information for the label.

People’s Choice voting will continue through April 5th.

Thank you all for your entries, and for your willingness to work with Emily in keeping WTWS art on her walls!     Kathryn
