Book of Reports for the 2019
General Assembly Now Available

The latest edition of the Book of Reports, including reports to the 2019 General Assembly and information for General Assembly participants, is now available for download and the printed edition is available for order.

Webinars To Help Prepare for General Assembly 

Two upcoming live, free webinars will help commissioners to better understand the specifics and recommendations of the Doctrine of Discovery report (webinar taking place on May 16) and the Joint Statement on the Physical Punishment of Children and Youth (May 14). Both reports will be presented at the General Assembly in June.

It’s Time to Review Your Emergency Preparedness Plan

It’s important for congregations to both have an emergency plan in place that can be activated during a time of crisis and for everyone to be familiar with the plan so that people know what to do in case of an emergency. May and June are excellent times to do an annual review of emergency procedures in congregations.

The Rev. Susan Shaffer and the Rev. Dr. Paul McLean to Receive Doctor of Divinity Degrees

The Rev. Susan Shaffer has served faithfully in pastoral ministry within The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Since 1997, Susan has served as Associate Secretary, Ministry and Church Vocations at the national office, and has undertaken this work prayerfully, diligently and with a deep commitment to the wellbeing of the Church. The degree of Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) will be conferred upon Susan at the Presbyterian College Convocation on May 9 at The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul in Montreal. 
 
Supported by the PCC, the Rev. Dr. Paul McLean has been serving as a Bible Translation Adviser in partnership with The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and the Bible Society in Taiwan, since 2012. The degree of Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) will be conferred upon Paul at the 175th Knox College Convocation on May 8, 2019. The degree is in recognition of outstanding service in the completed and ongoing work of Bible translation together with the translation teams of The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan.
