Living With Christ,
the Risen Lord

Here are the key points from my recent teaching on Colossians 3:1-4:

1. We live between the “already” and the “not yet”.
2. Christ, the Risen Lord, is central to our identity.
3. Therefore, our Imperatives are to seek heaven and think heaven while we are living in the “now”.
4. We seek heaven and think heaven as we personalize the true Gospel to fight against false gospels in our lives.

One point I did not get to present during the teaching is that of all the people in the world, we, who have died with Christ, have been raised with Christ, and will be revealed with Christ when He appears in glory are the ones who can truly live with joy, love and hope in the now.

What do I mean? Very simply, if we…

Have died with Christ—and therefore have been undeservingly forgiven and made righteous before God…we can be truly JOYFUL!

Have been raised with Christ—and therefore have been given a new birth to become a new creation, with a new heart, and with a new identify…we can LOVE God and others well!

Will be glorified with Him--when He appears again and we are revealed with Him in glory…we have a great and unmovable HOPE!

Joy, love and hope are heavenly languages we can express in the now while we seek and think heaven where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father!

How is your level of joy, love and hope in these days? And, what is bringing you joy, love and hope?

May God give you grace to seek and think heaven today.

CR OPEN HOUSE

Spring Forward Into Action with Celebrate Recovery!

We all have areas we can mature in, patterns of thinking and doing life that we would like to change, or even pain related to losses we wish we have never experienced.

What all these difficult realities have in common is that they all affect how we follow Jesus in every day life. Perhaps for some of you these realities keep you distant from God and His design for your life. Celebrate Recovery is designed to help you take next steps toward healing and freedom from hurts, habits and hangups. It is a safe and supportive place where you can process life in a more effective way.

Come to our open house on April 30th at 6:30pm and learn how this ministry can help you take action steps toward freedom. Refreshments will be served. This event is for anyone ages 19 and up. A program for children ages 0-12 will be offered on the same night. Bring a friend or come by yourself.  Sign Up Today!

KEEP GROWING...

Acknowledging the Savior Right With Me

Last week I sat in my cozy gray chair. No one else was up. It was dark. It was my favorite time of day in my home: dark and silent and still. I opened up my Bible application on my phone to that day’s Lent reading.

As I sat there, in the quiet of the still-sleeping house, I felt moved in my spirit by the words about Jesus…the words about His sacrifice for me. I even had tears come to my eyes. I lingered over the thoughts for a few more moments, and then I went to click off my phone and get ready for the day.
