Thank You Renee Will !
Early in March Renee Will, a volunteer, told me she went to our vet office and paid our bill in full. I was very grateful and immediately notified the Board of the generosity of Renee's generosity. This kind of unexpected support of CARL and our dogs is heartwarming. About a week later I was in Ohana and asked for the exact amount of the payment so we could thank the volunteer. That was when I learned that the full amount to bring CARL's account paid in full was $10,914.08. I was shocked and overjoyed. This huge payment could not have come at a better time. When I thanked Renee I knew it was a significant gift but had no idea our bill had grown so large. This out of the blue generosity is so wonderful and I want to let all of you share the great feeling of support for CARL and our dogs. Thank you Renee!!

Many Thanks For Your Support !
Many thanks to all who have contributed toward CARL's project of providing improved shelter of the night runs for our beloved dogs. Here's an update.
As most are aware, initial plans are often altered by a variety of reasons-financial, permit approval, and others.
The original plan of an overhead metal roof will cost in excess of $100,000.00. Considerations of wind velocity and weight load have resulted in several submitted plans being rejected.
The installation of a fully enclosed building is an alternative plan. The building would be metal. Our kennel neighbors all have metal buildings and they function well. They are easier to build, have pre engineered plans, fewer permit conditions, and are less costly (approximately $70,000.00).
CARL is aware of a comparable NO KILL dog rescue who houses their dogs in a metal building. April 14th, a group of CARL's volunteers plan to visit this rescue and evaluate the "pro's and con's" of this option. More update after the visit.
We will continue our due diligence to provide an optimum shelter for our dogs and responsible investment of funds entrusted to us by you.
Again many thanks for your support!
Mary Saputo,
President

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month
Even though we work to prevent cruelty to animals all year long, April is special at the ASPCA because it is officially Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month! Every year, we ask supporters to celebrate this month by helping us raise awareness about important issues facing animals—and we hope that you’ll join in! We’ve come up with some exciting ways you can get involved and make a difference all month long:
Commemorate Dog Fighting Awareness
Tuesday, April 8, marks our second annual National Dog Fighting Awareness Day. The ASPCA designated this day to advance the conversation about dog fighting and to encourage animal-lovers across the country to take action against this brutal form of cruelty. This year, you can add your voice to the cause by joining our Get Tough campaign.
Help a Horse
If you love horses, please say “neigh!” We’re gearing up for ASPCA Help a Horse Day on Sunday, April 26. You can join us in honoring our nation’s horses by supporting the ASPCA and your local horse rescue in the fight to end equine cruelty and neglect, or by attending a Help a Horse Day event in your community.
Make Adoption Your First Option
Bringing a four-legged friend into your family? Shelters have lovable dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes and ages who are looking for a good home, so please make adoption your first choice.
Show Your Support Online
During April, use Your Facebook page, Twitter account or blog to spread the word about Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month—and be sure to tag us at @ASPCA in your posts! If you don’t already, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
We can’t wait to spread the word about animals in need nationwide all month long. Want to do more? Here’s our complete list of ways to help animals in celebration of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.

Recycling Fundraiser
The CARL Kennels needs your recyclable plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Instead of throwing them in your recycling container at curb side, why not separate them in bags of aluminum cans and plastic bottles and bring them to the kennel. All money goes back to the repairs and upkeep of the kennel such as shade tarps, poop bags, etc. It’s good for the can, it’s good for the dogs.
This is an ongoing fundraiser. Contact C.A.R.L at http://info@carlvc.org If you would like to donate recyclable bottles, cans.
