Johnson University Program Receives CFLE Approval
 NCFR welcomes the human services undergraduate program at Johnson University as the newest program to meet the criteria for the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential. This program is offered at its main campus in Knoxville, Tennessee, and also at its campus in Kissimmee, Florida.
Additionally, two degree programs were renewed as a CFLE-approved program for the next five years: the human development and family studies undergraduate program at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the family and consumer sciences graduate program at Western Michigan University.

Adolescent Sexting: What Researchers and Practitioners Need to Know
Thursday, April 25 // 11 a.m. - noon CT
 Research on the online sexual behaviors of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) is extremely limited and has resulted in diverse findings. This leaves practitioners and parents without the necessary resources to guide youth through healthy sexual and intimate relationship development within the context of a digital social landscape.
In this upcoming NCFR webinar, presenters Amanda Williams, Ph.D., and Jennifer Becnel, Ph.D., will guide webinar participants through research on AYA sexting, a growing online phenomenon in which AYAs communicate sexually themed messages and images via mobile devices.
Approved for 1 CFLE contact hour of continuing education credit.

2 Members Receive Early Career Award in Family Life Extension
 NCFR members Jacquelyn J. Benson, Ph.D., and Heather Sedges Wallace, Ph.D., CFLE, are the two recipients of the 2018 Early Career Achievement award from the Institute of Youth, Family, and Community, a division of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
This award is given to state extension specialists with six or fewer years experience, who have made important contributions to the work of cooperative extension and who provide clear evidence of program impacts.

Special JFTR Issue on Ethnic Minority and Diverse Fathers
Submit Proposals by Dec. 1, 2019
 The Journal of Family Theory & Review (JFTR), published by NCFR, seeks manuscripts for a special issue to highlight recent theoretical innovations on ethnic minority, immigrant, and diverse fathers.
The editors seek articles that explicitly focus on how theories/models have contributed to contextualizing fatherhood. Submissions from around the world are welcomed, as perspectives and implementation of research may culturally differ.

UN Commission Commits to Building ‘Level Playing Field’ for Women and Girls
 The 63rd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63) took place at the United Nations (U.N.) on March 11–29, 2019. NCFR's U.N. Representatives, Mihaela Robila, Ph.D., CFLE, and Bahira Sherif Trask, Ph.D., were in attendance.
The goal of the commission was to discuss ways to safeguard and improve women’s and girls’ access worldwide to social protection systems, public services, and sustainable infrastructure.

The opioid crisis in America continues to be relevant, and a source of struggle for individuals and their families across the country. To help make sense of this issue, the Ohio Council on Family Relations, a state affiliate of NCFR, created a free two-part webinar for family scholars and practitioners.
Presented by Philip Atkins, Ph.D., executive director of the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Union County, this webinar addresses the scope and scale of the opioid epidemic in Ohio. After completing this webinar, participants will learn intervention methods to work with families affected by opiate abuse and practices to assist families in recovery.
