The Colts Connection
April 12, 2019
Dear Kennedy Families,

As we plan for next year, please communicate any enrollment changes or requests for classroom placement consideration to me prior to May 1.  Thank you for your partnership in helping us staff and schedule efficiently and effectively.

Please note that school is not in session on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.  To those who celebrate, we wish you a wonderful Easter holiday.

Sincerely,

Laurie Putnam

Community Education has scheduled the popular art class. Watch Me Draw, again at Kennedy.  Check out the flyer on Peach Jar for more information.

Kitchen Staff Needed

If you enjoy working around food and with children, please consider applying for our open position in the Kennedy kitchen.  The position is 3.5 hours, 5 days a week and is posted on our district website under Human Resources.

MCAs Begin

MCA testing begins this week for a few classrooms.  Please help your child prepare to do their best by getting a good night's sleep and breakfast, either at home or at school.

Cooks' Choice Menu

The menu for May 8 will be a corn dog, tortilla chips. and baked beans.  The alternate lunch is a sunbutter sandwich and string cheese.

Climate Surveys

This year's climate survey will be sent home with students within the upcoming weeks.  Please take time to complete and return the survey.  Your input helps inform decision making at Kennedy and across the district.

Lunch Selections

We have had difficulty with lunch counts being off because students are signing up for one lunch option and then choosing another when they get to the cafeteria.  This decision results in our kitchen staff needing to prepare more food quickly or our students in later lunches being short on food.

Our PBIS lead, Ms. Bergwall, created a lesson to teach students the importance of taking the lunch they selected, and our staff have reinforced the expectation.  We have clarified that the main concern is coming from our middle level students, especially on Fridays.  Thus, we will not offer an alternate lunch to our middle level students on Fridays through the remainder of April.

Please, partner with us to discuss this concern with your child.  Thank you for your assistance.

Our Classroom

RSVP Readers' Theater

Members of RSVP, the retired seniors' volunteer program, came to Kennedy to perform Readers' Theater for our primary aged students.  Many thanks to these volunteers and to our teachers who made it happen.  Students enjoyed it greatly.
