A shared vision for Boughton Aluph, Eastwell & Goat Lees to 2030
Issue 13, April 2019
Welcome
Thank you for signing up for our Neighbourhood Plan newsletter
It's been while since we were last in touch but we have some exciting news for you about the Boughton Aluph and Eastwell Parishes Neighbourhood Plan.
Public consultation on Draft Neighbourhood Plan
The Parish Council has launched a 6 week public consultation on a Draft Neighbourhood Plan for Boughton Aluph & Eastwell Parishes.
The Draft Plan contains 10 local planning policies. Each is based on your responses to our household survey and supporting evidence researched by our volunteer Steering Group.
We need to hear your feedback on the Draft Plan so that it can strongly represent local views.
On our website you will also find copies of the survey results and evidence documents that underpin the Draft Plan, together with information about the project and Neighbourhood Planning.
Reference copies of the Draft Plan will be available at the Iron Room, Sandyacres and Goat Lees Community Hall.
Please join us at one of our community exhibitions about the Draft Neighbourhood Plan. Dates and locations below. Parish Councillors will be on hand to answer your questions.
Sandyacres, Sandyhurst Lane Saturday 13 April, 10.00am to 1.00pm
We need your feedback. We'll be delivering a flyer about the consultation on the Draft Plan to every home and business. Our Neighbourhood Plan must be based on the views of the people who live and work in our community.
The Parish Council will consider and respond to all comments and may amend the Neighbourhood Plan in the light of them. The amended Plan will be subject to further public consultation and independent examination.
The final version will be put to a parish referendum. If it has the backing of residents, it will be adopted by Ashford Borough Council as the Plan which must be used in law to determine planning applications in our parishes.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our Neighbourhood Plan consultation events and Survey
What area is covered by the Neighbourhood Plan?
The Neighbourhood Plan covers the whole of Boughton Aluph and Eastwell Parishes and incorporates Goat Lees, Boughton Lees, Boughton Aluph and Eastwell as well as the surrounding countryside as shown on the map below.
Why do we need a Neighbourhood Plan?
Neighbourhood Plans give local communities a voice in future development in their area. Our Plan will provide a blueprint for sustainable development which focuses on local, rather than strategic issues.
As a legal document it will carry real weight in planning decisions. Developers and Local Authority Planners will have to take notice of it. With a Neighbourhood Plan, our community will be in a stronger position to stop unwanted and potentially inappropriate and unsustainable development.
