Interbeing Sangha

Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place Sunday, April 7th for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Linda Tucker will be bell minding this week.
Loving Yourself

"The Buddha said this: "The object of your practice should first of all be yourself. Your love for the other, your ability to love another person, depends on your ability to love yourself." If you are not able to take care of yourself, if you are not able to accept yourself, how could you accept another person and how could you love him or her?"

― Thich Nhat Hanh, True Love: A Practice for Awakening the Heart

This Week at KUF

Ottawa Pagoda Sangha

Day of Mindfulness

Dear Friends, Ottawa Pagoda Sangha is pleased to invite you to a special Day of Mindfulness with Sister Ocean (Hai An) on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Richelieu-Vanier Centre, 300 Des Pères-Blancs Avenue, Ottawa. As you may recall, we have enjoyed hosting Sister Ocean during recent retreats with the Monastics of Blue Cliff Monastery and during memorable Days of Mindfulness in 2017 and 2018. There is no charge but Registration is mandatory via Eventbrite: click here to go to the Eventbrite Registration Page.
Registration on Eventbrite will allow us to know the number of people who will be attending to ensure that we have sufficient space and tea/snacks for everyone. Contact Catherine Cody with any questions: ccody2521@gmail.com We will enjoy such practices as sitting meditation, listening to a dharma talk given by Sister Ocean, deep relaxation, mindfully eating our lunch in noble silence and outdoor walking meditation in a wooded area adjacent to the centre. Tea and snacks will be offered by the sangha.  Please bring your own lunch. Arrival at 9:30pm / Departure 3:00pm. There is no fee for the Day of Mindfulness, but we encourage you to provide a dana/donation to support the work of Sister Ocean. Please join us in welcoming Sister Ocean for a memorable day of mindfulness!
Impermanence

"It is not impermanence that makes us suffer. What makes us suffer is wanting things to be permanent when they are not. We need to learn to appreciate the value of impermanence. If we are in good health and are aware of impermanence, we will take good care of ourselves. When we know that the person we love is impermanent, we will cherish our beloved all the more. Impermanence teaches us to respect and value every moment and all the precious things around us and inside of us. When we practice mindfulness of impermanence, we become fresher and more loving."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
