April Theme:

PROMOTE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

For 2019 we explore the 10 Principles of Spirituality in Action - based on the 10 Prophetic Justice Principles written by Rev. James Forbes, who received his inspiration from the book of Amos.  So far we have looked at what it means to "be truthful in facts and motives", and at the importance of our interdependence.  In the Sanctuary of our Center we have a wonderful poster that lists all 10 of these principles.  Everyone is invited to come take a look at it.

For April the principle we excavate is "promoting diversity and inclusion."  This Sunday (April 7, 2019) we look at diversity - what it is, what it isn't, what it really means when we consider if the words we are about to speak, or the actions we are about to take 'promote diversity and inclusion.'

FRIENDSHIP SUNDAY!!  This Sunday, April 7th - Bring food to share and friends and join us after our Celebration Service for a shared meal with coffee or tea, companionship, and conversation.

On Wednesday April 10th at 7:00pm we have the third in the series of three conversations about Gun Responsibility and Healing Violence.  With many other New Thought centers, churches, and organizations around the world we learn to hear beyond our own interpretation and perspectives.  Join us!

CORE COUNCIL MEETING  Following our Celebration Service on the second Sunday - April 14th we will have our CORE Council meeting.  Anyone interested in learning about, and maybe participating in, the day-to-day operations and decisions about our Center is invited!

On Sunday April 21st we take a metaphysical deep dive into the meaning of Easter - death and resurrection.  Our Meditation starts at 10:30am; and our Celebration Service follows at 11:00am.  As always there will be coffee and tea.

For more information on our MAY RETREAT - PLANTING SEEDS - see here.

After our Sunday Celebration on the 28th join Rev. Jane and Sean as we introduce our Home Group Community First program with a Home Group tasting.  Come and see what it is like to be part of a small group of people who learn together, while deeply caring for each other.

On Tuesday evening, April 30th at 6:00pm we start another wonderful class:  EXPLORING OUR ROOTS.

EXPLORING OUR ROOTS
A 10-week accredited class, starting Tuesday evening - April 20, 2019 at 6:00pm.

We explore our Science of Mind roots as we look at three giants in the early New Thought Movement who influenced Ernest Holmes in his own journey toward greater understanding.  We will study them in the sequence in which they impacted the life and work of the young Ernest Holmes: Ralph Waldo Emerson, the distinguished New England philosopher and essayist; Thomas Troward, an eminent British jurist and metaphysician; and Emma Curtis Hopkins, a greatly respected American teacher and mystic, often called the “teacher of teachers.”

Cost:  $225.00 when paid in full at the first class; or $25.00/class (including missed ones) for a total of $250.00.

ROOTS continued...

On May 2nd we start our retreat with dinner together at the Avila Retreat Center in Durham, NC.  After dinner we spend time together to create a beautiful altar, placing on it items we bring from our lives that remind us of the theme for our retreat:  PLANTING SEEDS.

After breakfast together there will be a day of organized activities and time to spend alone; we will eat lunch and dinner together.  On Saturday morning we again eat breakfast together before we engage in more activities (more details on all this is being worked out as we speak).  After lunch together, it's time to gather our belongings and head home, feeling spiritually, emotionally, physically renewed and fulfilled!

We still have room for more people!  Cost for 2 nights (small, single room) - including 6 meals:  $179.00 (special dietary requirements can be met for $6/day extra ($2/meal).
