The commandment for counting the Omer is from the Torah, written in Vayikra 23:15 & 16:

You shall count from the day after Shabbat, from the day that you bring the waving omer, seven full weeks, even to the next day after the seven-week - you shall count 50 days, and then you will present a new Mincha (thanksgiving offering) unto your God.
Each night, when the sun sets, say the Bracha and then count the appropriate day of the Omer (below).

As we approach the festival of Shavuot, we approach closer to the sense of God as the Presence that suffuses the world: this is the quality of Malchut. Malchut is the crowning quality of all the Middot, representing both their full integration and their apex. As we approach the holiday of revelation, take some time to review your Omer-counting practice over the last six weeks and think about how it can be further integrated into your life. You will notice that there are no supplementary texts this week, but questions designed to motivate you to review, reflect, and inspire both your thought and your practice as we “Count Up” to the festival of revelation.
