Oxfordshire Libraries newsletter April 2019
It's so good to see a bit of sun as we head towards May.  This issue details about the Age of Creativity Festival, all about our language cafes, Richard and Judy 'Spring Reads' and a pick of the best events going on in libraries across the county.
Library opening hours over Easter
Libraries are closed as follows during the Easter weekend but our online library is open 24/7 and our eBooks and eMagazines too.

Friday 19th April:     Closed
Saturday 20th April: Open normal hours
Sunday 21st April:   Closed
Monday 22nd April:  Closed

Eynsham, Grove and Summertown will be open during established unstaffed hours as normal on these days.
Volunteer with the Home Library Service
Our Home Library Service is going from strength to strength and was even featured on Meridan TV back in January. Since the feature went out  even more people are asking to take up the service.
We need your help - volunteers are a friendly face who can stop by once every three weeks to bring customers some new books or CDs and spend some time to share their own stories.
The Home Library Service is run by Oxfordshire Libraries  but this would not be possible without the support of volunteers. If you would like to support them, please look at our volunteer page.

Age of Creativity Festival 2019
The Age of Creativity Festival celebrates the extraordinary range of Age Friendly creative and cultural work taking place across England and reaches out into our community to help more people get involved. There are a number of events taking place in Oxfordshire, including an adult story time at Kidlington and a pop-up craft event at Banbury.
Language cafes
Language cafes are going from strength to strength in our libraries. From small beginnings in Oxfordshire County Library, they have now taken off in Banbury and Woodgreen.
Littlemore Library will be starting sessions as from May 3rd, so if you would like to get involved please contact the library manager for more information.

So what happens at a language cafe? You can:
  • Learn a new language through conversation
  • Practise English with a friendly facilitatior.
  • Meet friends and new people.
  • Swap your language for a new one and learn together
Give it a go!

Coming to a library near you!
We have a whole variety of author talks in Kennington, Wheatley, Headington, Summertown and Wantage libraries over the next few weeks.

For writers we have creative writing sessions for children and 'Reading Together' sessions for adults in Oxfordshire County Library.

Enjoy your craft? Try knitting at Wychwood, Benson, Berinsfield, Thame and Henley. Or crafts for adults at Wheatley.

Enjoy a coffee and a chat? Many libraries, like Adderbury and Chipping Norton host coffee mornings.
