Change Works in Peebles is a local project working to pilot new approaches to energy efficiency within the community. Funded by Scottish Borders Council, Changeworks and the Scottish Government, this project is all about helping to reduce costs and improve warmth in local homes, schools and businesses.

In 2018 Scottish Government launched the Energy Efficiency Scotland route map which proposes clear long-term energy efficiency standards that buildings will need to achieve by 2040. Peebles was initially chosen for this project because data analysis shows it to be a high energy use town with fuel bills 14% higher than the national average and the annual median gas use 12% higher than the Scottish Borders average.

In June 2018, Change Works in Peebles received funding to extend the project to cover the wider Tweeddale area. The project is keen to engage with businesses across Tweeddale, working with partners including Resource Efficient Scotland to offer support with funding, renewables, tariff switching and staff engagement.

One of the easiest ways to save money as a small to medium business is to increase your energy efficiency. Using less energy is both good for the bottom line and great for the environment.
