Synchron Initiates First-ever Clinical Trial to Evaluate Thought-to-Text™ Brain-Computer Interface Technology in Patients with Severe Paralysis

Why neuroengineering is a smart career choice

The current effort to understand and interact with brain circuits is pointing to a world in which neuroscience moves “from observation to causation,” sitting at the intersection of neuroscience and engineering.

Scientists  created a brain-to-brain interface system that allows one or more people to influence the decisions of an individual, with the goal of helping him play a Tetris-like game that only they can see.

Brane Interface (BI)  is developing a non-invasive brain-computer interface by using a single atomic layer of carbon (graphene). BI has built two proof-of-concept prototypes that use thin polymer membranes.

EMOTIV launches interdisciplinary STEAM program with the Varkey Foundation at 2019’s Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) to give access to Neurotech-Ed solution.

NeuroServo's portable EEG could become a better way to detect delirium

NeuroServo started out monitoring focus in children with ADHD, but has since forayed into medtech. The company is developing an EEG device to detect delirium in hospitalized patients.

The FDA has begun to reconsider how it reviews and approves medical devices that employ artificial intelligence and to learn from data to adapt their care.
Earbuds that can read your mind? Orbityl pushes boundaries of brain-computer interfaces

Orbityl’s earbuds can detect mental states as well as a few distinct thoughts — after a lot of calibration.
Tiny Ultrasound Device Stimulates Mouse’s Brain

Using a lightweight capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer, researchers in South Korea were able to noninvasively stimulate the mouse brain to a depth of three to four millimeters.

Brain-inspired AI inspires insights about the brain

Can artificial intelligence (AI) help us understand how the brain understands language? Can neuroscience help us understand why AI and neural networks are effective at predicting human perception?

The “sewing machine” for minimally invasive neural recording

Feasibility and scalability of a scalable and customizable recording and stimulation system of neural activity, incorporating fine and flexible thin-film polymer probes, a fine and stiff insertion needle, and a robotic insertion machine.

Brain wave stimulation may improve Alzheimer’s symptoms

By exposing mice to a unique combination of light and sound, MIT neuroscientists have shown that they can improve cognitive and memory impairments similar to those seen in Alzheimer’s patients.

Industry Funding News
Bezos joins Gates-backed Alzheimer's diagnostics accelerator with new focus on digital biomarkers

The accelerator fund plans to deliver nearly $35 million in grants over three years for the development of new clinical biomarkers and tests. With the additions of Bezos, that total has now grown to nearly $50 million.
Akili and Shionogi Announce Strategic Partnership

The companies announced they have entered into a strategic partnership to develop and commercialize digital therapeutics for cognitive disorders in key asian markets.

Spectra: Open Source Biomedical Imaging - Bringing Medical Imaging to Everyone!

At NeuroTechX we love when people are taking the Open Source road to benefit the field. We've been following the work of Jean Rintoul (also had her for our Webinar not too long ago), so we are excited to share with you the Crowdfunding Campaign for Spectra - the world’s first open source medical imaging system.
Integrated Open-Source Software for Multiscale Electrophysiology

This is a free, extensive, open-source software that provides data-analysis, data-management and multi-modality integration solutions for invasive neurophysiology.

Artificial Intelligence Colloquium: A New Paradigm of Brain-Computer Interface

This talk will discuss several approaches explored in neuroprosthetics, and the opportunities for improving performance through the integration of intelligent systems and advanced capabilities in AI.
An introduction to non invasive brain computer interface techniques for AAC

To help support AAC access, this seminar will provide an overview of non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) techniques for individuals with severe physical impairment, along with assessment considerations, and future directions for integrating BCI into clinical practice.
Innovative Neurotechnologies: Merging Minds and Machines: Brain Computer Interfaces..

As BCIs advances emerge, we are moving towards reaching a vision where a person paralyzed from stroke, spinal cord or brain injury, or neurodegenerative diseases like ALS, will be able to resume everyday, independent life.

NTX announcements

The NeuroTechX Student Clubs - Annual Competition is next week!!!

Next Sunday, April 14th, 10+ neurotechnology student clubs will submit the project they've been working on for the past few months.

There are 2 categories: Open Challenge and Fixed Challenge.
The winning team in each category will win $1000.

Will the judges be seduced by this cute mind-controlled grapefruit?
