GAS 2019 Recap

We had a blast at the 48th Annual Glass Art Society Conference in St. Pete. We were more heavily involved this year than usual, and took the whole Mobile Glassblowing Studio Crew with us!

Check out our review below.
Booth Display
We had a Big Dragon and our new Independant FATCAT-60 on display at our tech booth. We talked to a lot of people and are so very grateful to everyone who stopped by and supported us. In return, we gave away our special rainbow MGBS t-shirts.
Gathering Around the Fire - The Effects of the Small Studio
Chuck & Phil gave a talk entitled "Gathering Around the Fire - The Effect of the Small Studio" on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who came to listen!
Sustainable Firing with Waste Vegetable Oil
Elise Betrus from Mobile Glassblowing Studios and Kevin McNiff from Organic Combustion Systems discuss the demonstration in front of Elise's Double Dragon hooked up to the High Temperature Vegetable Oil Burner.
Elise Betrus, John Shoemaker & friends demonstrated on Elise's Double Little Dragon at the Craftsman House Gallery. The furnace was fired using a High Temperature Vegetable Oil Burner from Organic Combustion Systems, which runs on waste vegetable oil and is designed specifically for hot glasswork.

The collaboration between Mobile Glassblowing Studios and Organic Combustion Systems began after a meet-up before the GAS Norfolk Conference and continues today.
Elise Betrus removes a cup from the Independent FATCAT-60 during the Veggie Burner demonstration.

The NEW Independent FATCAT-60

The Independent FATCAT-60 was announced at GAS 2019. The Independent FATCAT-60 is a fresh take-off from our Continuous Annealing Tube, AKA the CAT-60 (the 60 stands for the approximate number of minutes it takes to cool the glass), and is the perfect addition for ANY studio.

This model operates on its own without the need to own a Dragon furnace! So for those of you who want to use this awesome technology, but already have a studio, this is the unit for you!

This Week's Activities: HGCB and The Glass Craft and Bead Expo

GAS 2019 was just the start of our glass festivities.

Now that we are back at our home base of Americus, GA, we are hosting a group of glass artists for a variety of activities (listed on our Facebook page Events) as we gearing up for the 3rd Annual Americus Hot Glass Craft Beer Festival!
Friday, April 5, 2019. We're hosting a free First Friday/Friday After Dark event in conjunction with Downtown Americus' Main Street program and many other downtown businesses.

Saturday, April 6, 2019. Join us for another amazing event with 8 Dragons in play, over 100 Georgia craft beers to taste, fantastic live music, and great local food vendors.
The Glass Craft and Bead Expo

This year, we're also making our debut at the Glass Craft & Bead Expo in Vegas, April 3-7. We'll have one of our Mini Dragon glass furnaces on display, and Chuck & Jennifer will gladly answer questions and give high-fives!
Come say hi!
