Progress Highlights April

Thanks to the Caring Foundation of Blue Cross Blue Shield and Tim King, director, for supporting more of our work though another grant. Funding helps us develop and provide materials to use and teach advancing Plan for School and Life, Veterans Day Founding Education, character traits education, and more for teachers. And, they have sponsored and attended our Personal Leadership for Patriots Program for veterans, families, cadets, and other patriots to commemorate America's first National Veterans Day founded in Alabama and to advance Personal Leadership.

 

Plan for School/College and Life planbook covers updated--mainly for college students
(work continues on Plan for School and Life materials and initiatives).

Created a web page with resources to teach character traits—you can see the list of character traits taught in Alabama with lessons for the five most closely aligned with Alabama's national distinctions--Veterans Day, Rights, Plan for School and Life—plus five more recommended by Life Leaders to align with Alabama's national contributions to Freedom:

Presented two classes at the University of Montevallo for professors Caplow and Crider, Environment and Society. Dr. Dyson interviewed both professors and two students for individual videos posted to the video channel playlist created for Plan for School and Life and Farm and Ranch education.
 

National Veterans Day Founding History and Character Education web page improved.

Hundreds of people downloaded the Planbook, Achieve More Goals: 7 Proven Steps to Set Achievable Resolutions, which is free through Life Leaders. 
 

Attended the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham 60th anniversary celebrating their past and projecting an inspiring future.

Event hosted for webmaster and volunteer Kyle Crider who brought potential friends of Life Leaders to Triple D Ranch and Farm to use meeting space and enjoy interacting with horses and dogs.
 

Save the Date for the Saturday before Flag Day, June 8, for a patriotic program including dedication of the Dunn Dogwood in memory of Col. Stretch Dunn (1943-2017) and Barefield Flag Pole to display the U.S. Flag dedicated in honor of Col. Bob (USA Ret) and Nancy Barefield for their contributions to Patriotism In Action.
 

Camp Rockhurst kids plan to return for Life Leaders Ranch Day in July with Terry Slaughter and team to learn, plan, grow in a farm and ranch environment. They can outline goals and ideas for school and personal leadership, sit on a horse, fish, hike, and enjoy a picnic, pick fruit or veggies from a garden, and leave better than they came. They can learn and practice at least one character trait they like or need to become closer to their best-selves....
