Work Days!

The next two weekends will be work days at the Garden.

This Saturday and Sunday and the following Sunday starting around 1 PM, we will be continuing work on the fence and finishing the sidewalk. We have some paving bricks to use but if you know of a source for more, we are on the look out. In addition to this, we will be weeding along the fence and mulching, as well as mulching the paths. Feel feel to bring any cardboard you have to lay under the paths. Overtime, this will degrade and create new soil.

A large plastic shed was also donated that now sits in pieces in the garden. We will need to clear out an area to reassemble it by the wood shed. It will be used to store the large equipment, like the wheel barrow(s).

There are also some smaller jobs, including applying trim on the coop and finishing painting. We will also be better situating the bee hives! Bees arrive on April 14th!

We have also reached out to the children's librarian and will be having a bug hotel project with the children in May. If anyone has interest in helping to plan and organize this event or to help out at the event itself, please reach out. We are just in the initial stages and haven't scheduled a date yet. The Eastside Child Development Center has also expressed interest in hosting an art show in the garden in May to show off their work done in a program at Baker Hunt, so we are hoping to combine these events if feasible to make one great event for the community, but that is tentative at this point.

As always: We have a lot of seeds in our seed library, if you would like to start some seeds for yourself and/or to share, that would be wonderful. We will also be sowing some seeds in the garden itself.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering and as always,

Happy Gardening!
