PRAYER POINTS:

-- The Nyarafolo team faces a challenging season of checking and correcting the final drafts of New Testament books. The consultant-check of 1st and 2nd Corinthians will take place in May. They also need to harmonize key terms and check format markers. Linn works with the team via Internet (Paratext software) whenever there are open days. Pray for wisdom and perseverance.

-- The Tiepogovogo believers whose fields were cursed had great cashew harvests, which shows their opponents that Jesus protects his people. But all cashew farmers are suffering due to a drastic drop in the price they are being paid for their produce. Pray for provision of their needs!

-- Pray for Glenn and Linn as they present the story of how God has been at work among the Nyarafolo, that partners will be moved to continue to support the work of the Nyarafolo Project team to promote the use of the Scriptures. We have had at least two partners commit to ongoing donations, which is a huge encouragement. And two gifts allowed us to send funds for the workers' April salaries!  (About $2,200/month is needed.)

Dear Companions of the Road,

Back in Côte d’Ivoire mangoes are currently ready to harvest, all through the north. We miss that! And we heard that the cashew harvest went well (with a challenge -- see the sidebar). And the best news? In Tcheligaha, the Palaka village where Pastor Pekaly has been discipling believers for the last few years, 26 people were baptized in March! We are especially thankful for the ripe fruit there.

The Road on this side of the Pond has been an adventure! We have traveled another 2,600 miles and have been deeply encouraged by the loving welcome at faithful supporting churches: Cornerstone Community in Manchester IA, Calvary Baptist in Cedar Rapids IA, Calvary Baptist in Eau Claire WI, and Immanuel Bible in Saginaw MI. We were given special retirement gifts as well as wonderful donations to the ongoing Nyarafolo Scripture-in-Use project and the Compassion Fund. It was like getting warm hugs over and over (we did get a lot of those, actually!). And we get to throw those hugs over the ocean to brothers and sisters there in Nyarafololand.

In between meetings we made new friends and visited family and individual supporters. That included a walk through snow that had my legs sinking in knee-high in spots, joining a partner for a two-mile hike through the northern Wisconsin countryside, and driving through miles and miles of flooded plains. In between we were extremely well-fed by everyone -- we really need to buy a scale!

The best part is seeing the deep emotional responses to the stories we share about how God has been drawing Nyarafolo people to himself, writing his story in ways we had never imagined. If any of you would like to see the video that we show, you can see it (or even download it) on OneDrive: "Linn and Glenn 40 Years"--   https://1drv.ms/v/s!AsIqtq9QmkdqhyjAvvKlw1y9kgiT

Prayer points are updated in the sidebar. Your prayers are heard, that we know! And the ongoing projects that need help to "finish well" are in the box below..

Thank you so much for walking this long road with us out of love for our loving Lord and for the people that he is calling to himself!

Linn, for Glenn too
ONGOING:
  1. Nyarafolo Scripture-in-Use will allow members of the team that I've worked with for years in translation to enable people to access the Word, through literacy training, audio-recording of the texts, and literature production, among other things. We are hoping for donors committed to support this for three years, as well as for one-time gifts.
  2. Compassion: We remain committed to helping students we have been supporting to finish their education. Each one would not be able to continue without such help. In addition there are other ongoing projects to help widows, as well as people with epilepsy or who need continued therapy (like Loriyegebaa, who had spinal surgery last year).
  3. Glenn and I both need to return to RCI later this year for key tasks: Glenn, to train the next field treasurer, me, to participate in all that goes on to typeset the translated Nyarafolo Scriptures. Donations to our Ministries Account will be available to us, after retirement, to make such trips.
