Hey! It's spring here in Brooklyn, y'all, and truly not a second too soon.

Here are some lovely and/or meaningful things for you:

  1. As mentioned last week, I'm spinning off the sprawling jobs P.S. section of this newsletter into its own email list that curates meaningful jobs and other opportunities in advocacy, media, and tech. Maybe with news and strategies for navigating advanced capitalism as a soul-having person on the side.

I'm calling it Cup of Ambition—yes of course it's a "9 to 5" reference—and you can subscribe here.

A monthly free version of Cup of Ambition will go out the first Sunday of every month. You can also subscribe for the weekly edition, Cup Weekly, for $7/month. (If you're one of the first 100 people to subscribe to Cup Weekly, you can get $2 off each of your first three months with the code DOLLY.)

Last note: Weekly memberships will be free for people who have been out of work for a year or more. Reply with your favorite emoji if that's you and I'll send you a code.

Here's the link to sign up again. Hope you like it! Tell yer friends!

  2. The Gender Spectrum Collection is a stock photo library "featuring images of trans and non-binary models that go beyond the clichés." Previously: A collection of photos featuring non-stereotypical depictions of women and girls.

  3. Rosemary Mosco solves backyard nature mysteries

  4. A stunning photo series capturing a community of women who used to be nomadic reindeer herders and are now living out their old age in northern Siberia.

  5. What it's like to grow up with more money than you'll ever spend, by Abigail Disney.

  6. "You can tell when someone has googled his name. They’ll act one way for weeks, and then suddenly they’re too nice: They let him finish what he’s saying. It’s always sad, the day someone stops treating him like he’s an asshole." Blair Braverman, of sled-dog fame, on what it's like to have a trans partner

  7. "There were just too many millionaires and billionaires here for a disaster on a great scale to be allowed to take place." Sarah Miller went down to Miami and pretended to want to buy shoreline property to see what real estate agents would say to her about the city's future.

  8. A delightful podcast in which David Tennant interviews actor friends like Jon Hamm, Ian McKellen, Olivia Colman, and Jennifer Garner. (Everyone calls Olivia Colman "Collie." !)

  9. I've previously recommended Alex Norris's brilliant Web Comic Name; now there's a Web Comic Name Generator

  10. To enjoy
    fireworks
    you would have
    to have lived
    a different kind
    of life.
