Wanted: AIM Host Choruses
|
|
|
Region 12 is looking for choruses to host the January and September 2020 and 2021 AIM weekends. Your chorus can earn $500 for hosting the weekend plus a coaching session with the International faculty person. Plus you are eligible to have tables in the sales area to raise additional funds for your chorus.
You do not need to be a large chorus to host the weekend. You need about 20-30 people to do the job and you can recruit friends from another chorus or anyone else to help you. A complete listing of duties is outlined on Page 16 of the Guide for Producing an AIM weekend available on the Region 12 website. Take a look at the guide and discuss the option with your chorus. There are choruses in the Region that have never hosted the weekend before. Is it time to consider doing this? There is so much to gain by stepping in to host a weekend and help the Region. Here are the dates we need a host chorus for:
- January 24-26, 2020
- September 18-21, 2020
- January 29-31, 2021
- September 17-19, 2021
Sorry we do not have a host chorus for the summer AIM in Oregon.
If your chorus is ready to host a weekend please contact me at marymamer1976@gmail.com. Thank you all for considering this.

Finding and licensing music we can use for Regional events has become a much bigger job than it was even 5 years ago. I am looking for someone with the initiative and sleuthing skills of a detective, good computer skills, and a passion for not only conforming to legalities but also for providing our members with music they can use and enjoy in the simplest way possible. Is that person you? Or someone you know?
Please contact education.coord@sairegion12.org if you have an interest. Your region needs you!

Marcia Pinvidic’s AIM Classes Revisited
|
|
|
Whether you were at AIM and attended Marcia’s class or want to see them for the first time, you’ll find these videos enjoyable and instructional. AND, you don’t have to ask for permission to see them, just go to the video library ( http://www.sairegion12.org/resources/video-library.html ) and click on the link to the class.
Expression, the Mystery Category
Marcia uses two of our regional songs to review the category of Expression. Do you know how and why the Expression Category score sheet is different from all the others? (No, it’s not because each sheet has its own emphasis, although that is true.) Do you know what the number 1 tool for unity is? Marcia has the answers to these questions, as well as others.
Dreams into Reality – Self-motivation
Why do we push ourselves to be better? How do we stay motivated? Do you measure yourself by how others are doing? Have you ever gotten down on yourself for missing a choreography move? Marcia discusses both self-motivation and self-confidence in this class. You can download the test she gave the class participants and follow along as she suggests what your score means. Then she discusses some very practical ways to improve self-confidence and motivation.

Like New Carpet
A few years ago, Region 12 purchased carpeting to cover the stage at the Nugget. As you know last year, the Nugget bought a brand new stage for concerts. The new stage is already carpeted so we have this great carpet for sale.
We have 4 rolls of 10' x 60' carpet in a beautiful black with white flecks color (called Tuxedo color). It is a flame retardant, polyester blend that was only used twice on the performance stage. It is in great shape and would be perfect for a rehearsal space or a rec room. It weighs approximately 130 lbs per roll and can fit in the back of a large pickup truck. It is currently being stored in the Reno area until we can sell it. The region is asking $300 per roll or $1000 for all four rolls ($200 savings). If you are interested contact me at marymamer1976@gmail.com or Teresa Landsaw at tdlandsaw@gmail.com.
