1) All Party Leaders' Environmental Forum

Four Party Leaders to Address Environmental Issues

Leaders of the Green, Liberal, New Democratic and Progressive Conservative Parties of PEI will take part in a forum on environmental issues on Monday, April 8th. The forum will be moderated by Dr Carolyn Peach-Brown, Chair of Environmental Studies at UPEI.

This event has been organized by a coalition of 20 Island environmental groups.

The forum starts at 7 pm in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium, Room 242 of McDougall Hall on the UPEI campus.

2) Leaders' Forum on Women's Issues

Hosted by PEI Coalition for Women in Government and Holland College Student Union.

The PEI Coalition for Women in Government and Holland College Student Union are pleased to host the second PEI Leaders’ Forum on Women’s Issues on Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm in the Florence Simmons Performance Hall (140 Weymouth Street, Charlottetown).

Leaders from the Green, Liberal, NDP, and Progressive Conservative parties will gather to listen and respond to questions from women in community organizations on issues facing women in PEI. The forum will be moderated by the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women Executive Director Jane Ledwell.  

This is a family-friendly event. If you would like to access onsite childcare or a childcare subsidy please contact the Coalition at peiwomeningovernment@gmail.com as soon as possible.

3) Mom2Mom Sale Spring 2019 - Charlottetown

Saturday, April 13, 2019

VENDORS:
It’s that time of year again! Gather up any of the clothes your children have outgrown, toys and gear they no longer use and bring them down to the Spring 2019 Mom2Mom Sale. Tables are on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you would like to book a table or are looking for more information, please contact Lindsay at lindsay@fvps.ca or 902-213-5183 (please do not send a message through facebook). The cost per table is $25 (max 2 tables per person). 

* Please note: this sale is for the purpose of selling used children's clothing, toys, books, sports equipment, etc. Businesses are not permitted to set up full tables to sell their items. If you have a business targeted towards children and you would like to be a vendor at this sale you must also sell used children's items and not devote your entire table to your business.

SHOPPERS:
Over 100 tables packed with used items for children. Clothing, toys, books, sports equipment, baby gear, and more! Lots of goodies for boys and girls from newborn - 12 years (shopping sections include: baby-24m; boys 2-12 yrs; girls 2-12 yrs; and boy and girls mixed 2-12 yrs). Whether this is your first baby or your 7th, this is the place to get everything you need. Spread the word!

Admission is $2/person and ALL PROCEEDS benefit Anderson House

Strollers are welcome; however, to help cut down on congestion baby carriers and umbrella strollers are encouraged!

The sale is a fundraiser for PEI Family Violence Prevention Services and all proceeds benefit Anderson House, an emergency shelter for women and children in need of safety because of violence in their lives. (Source: Facebook event page)

 

4) Register Today for Streams of Justice: KAIROS Atlantic Gathering 2019!

Whether you are new to activism and want to test the waters or are a long-time change-maker seeking to broaden your network and dive deeper into the issues that concern you, Streams of Justice: KAIROS Atlantic Gathering will provide a forum to learn, connect and transform. Join us May 2-5 at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq.

The Boys & Girls Club of Charlottetown presents The Great Family Easter Egg Hunt. Welcome Spring and celebrate Easter with the whole family! This event will include an egg hunt, picnic games, and a spring bulb planting activity. 

Hunt starts at 11:00am with activities to follow. Bring your own basket, The Great Family Easter Egg Hunt is FREE and open to everyone!

7) PEI Earth Day Family Expo

PEI Earth Day Family Expo 2019 will be Monday Apr 22 (Earth Day and Easter Monday) at the PEI Farm Centre from 12 - 3 pm.

An all-ages event with information booths, live music, food, science activities, family art activities, face painting, seed planting, a reading tent and much more. Admission by donation with proceeds going to PEI Sierra Club education programs, including PEI Wild Child Nature Immersion https://www.facebook.com/wildchildpei .

8) Fabric and Yarn Sale

G’ma Circle of Charlottetown
Place: Spring Park United Church Auditorium
Kirkwood Drive, Charlottetown
Date: Saturday, April 27th 2019
Time: 9 am-12 noon
Admission: $10 a bag per person (bags provided)


Donations of unused fabric, knitting and crocheting yarn, pattern and pattern books, thread, knitting/crochet needles, craft supplies etc., are appreciated. Contact Sharon at 902-892-2837 for pick-up or delivery information.

Donations can also be dropped off at church auditorium on April 26th from 5-7pm at the church’s side entrance on Trafalgar Street. Please do not drop donations off at Church Office or on day of sale.

All proceeds going to the Stephen Lewis Foundation (Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign).
