The Time is Now!

We started our first sermon series this past Sunday night for our Welcome Event called The Time is Now where we are following the events in the Book Haggai (yes that is in the Bible).

This is a time when the Israelite who had been sent back to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple that had been torn town, but stopped when things got hard.

What's so funny is so often, whenever we receive opposition, we think must not be God's will. It just got hard. This is difficult. We need to understand that the closer we get to doing something that matters to the heart of God, the more likely we are to face opposition.

You see, receiving opposition isn't always a sign that God's against you. A lot of times, it's a sign that you're doing what God wants you to do. That's why I always tell people, "I don't really worry when people are opposing me. I worry when no one is," right, because then I'm not doing much for the glory of God.

There's very likely spiritual opposition on the way. When you find yourself being obedient to God and it gets difficult and it gets challenging and it often does, I want to encourage you with this one simple thought. Oh, it's hard. Oh, it's challenging. Oh, it's difficult. I know it's right, but oh, this is so difficult.

Matthew 7:13-14 reminds us that, "Many enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

Over and over and over again, just tell yourself, "God, with Your help, enable, empower me to choose the hard right over the easy wrong."  It would be so easy to quit focusing on God and start focusing on myself.

This is what the Israelites were doing during the time of the prophet Haggai:

2 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.’” 3 Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: 4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” 5 Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways."

He says, "Give careful thought to your ways," and so I would just raise the question right now as you think about an unfinished assignment and ask yourself are you putting your own comfort ahead of His calling, okay?
  • Are you trying to make a name for yourself more than you're trying to make a difference?
  • Are you putting your house before His house?
  • Are you consumed with yourself instead of being consumed with God and showing His love to other people?
  • Is there something that you're putting ahead of God?
Give careful thought to your ways. God wants us to choose the hard right over the easy wrong.

Let me be honest… Angie and I have probably known for many years that God has given us unique gifts to start a new church.

But we were scared.

Getting a job at an existing church has a budget, a salary, staff and a building.

None of those things are wrong but I would definitely say that we were putting our own comfort ahead of God's calling for us.

Now I know that God has used every experience, every victory, every challenge and even every mistake to prepare us for this moment, in this place, and with these people.

Because the time is now!

Our Launch Team is now gathering throughout the month at homes so that we can prayerfully build the team that God wants to start a new church.

For the month of April we are going to be gathering from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Sundays April 7 & 14.

We are going to continue to get to know each other, learn more about who God has made us to be, and how he has equiped us to serve Him in unique ways to be the church that we read about in Acts 2:42-47 (see the passage from Pastor Kevin's Bible below.)

For the gathering on April 7 we are going to ask everyone attending the Launch Team to complete this assessment and bring the results with them: http://sixstyles.org/assessment.php?type=4 ... "There are Six Styles of Christian leaders. Knowing your style will help you understand how God can use your gifts, passions and personality to their fullest - a blueprint to lead as God intended. Are you ready to Discover Your Style?"

If you have any questions about the Launch Team Meetings please contact Pastor Keivn at 3213121133 or rockharborfl@gmail.com
The Commitment for everyone on the Rock Harbor Launch Team.
We are contiuing to connect with the community by using the church sound and video systems.

This Friday Kevin is DJing the Parent Social for Gemini Elementary School call Denim & Diamonds (it was nice for them to name it after us!)

Also, we have reached out to people in the Melbourne Beach area and we are scheduling doing music and an outdoor movies for neighborhoods and block parties over the summer.
We are excited to keep on taking the next step and we know that step-by-step God will continue to lead us to the launch of a new life-giving and gospel-centered church.

We know that many of our next steps are going to include some large financial expenditures such as the deposit on our launch location, insurance for the new larger building, signage, hospitality, advertising, children's ministry tools, Bibles and technical purchases.

We ask that you prayerfully consider taking the next step in partnering with us financially.
