Spring 2019 - Issue #5 (April)
Welcome to our Monthly Journal!

Issue Focus:
IDMA Program Spring 2019 Internships in Denmark,
Nigeria, and the US

Jarvis Grindstaff
is  a 2nd year student in the IDMA program. He is here to share with us
about his internship from Denmark

Welcome letter from IDMA Program Director:

We are three-quarters of the way through the Spring semester which means that IDMA Program graduate interns are deeply engaged in internship activities that include project design and institutional capacity-building for a national signed-spoken language interpreter training initiative (Philippines), organizational capacity-building and leadership (Chile), expanding inclusive development initiatives (Nigeria), Inclusive Education and Inclusive Development initiatives (US), and project monitoring and evaluation (Denmark, with support for project evaluation in Rwanda as well).

In this issue of the MOJO, three student interns--Jarvis Grindstaff, Sonia Holzman, and Olufemi Ige--describe the organizations they are interning with, their roles and responsibilities, as well as the ways that their internship experiences have enriched their professional development in general and deepened their engagement with their specific areas of specialization.

Each graduate intern story represents an extraordinary individual professional practice experience. It also represents the ways that these creative and committed international development workers, researchers, and policy analysts are contributing to (and already changing) the international field to advance the perspectives and talents of the communities they work with. We hope you enjoy this issue of the MOJO!

Presenting on the IDB's history, primary engagements in Latin America and the Caribbean, current institutional priorities and cross-cutting issue areas--conversation about the relationships between IDB's focus on gender equity and diversity, climate change and the environment, and institutional capacity-building was extremely engaging and touched on a number of graduate students' specialization interests.
