Hello,

This March I’ve truly had an amazing month. I hope it was the same for you.
I was fortunate to have several experiences that have made it very special to me.

I was blessed to see Trenton Youth Wrestling, a nonprofit organization I founded with Canaan and Alex Bethea, perform their best ever in our end-of-the-season league tournament placing third in a 15 team tournament. This was a huge success for our team, and I am extremely proud of them!
Every year I look forward to my annual lectures at West Point, which occurred just a few weeks ago. I spoke to the Army West Point wrestling team about Faith, Reading and Forgiveness. I also spoke to the Army West Point Premedical Society on The Art and Science of Medicine and the Center for Enhanced Performance on The Psychology of Elite Performance. A very special day that I am truly grateful for.

Lastly, this month I finished and delivered my Dreams, Platforms and Choices talk to the Princeton Wrestling Club. I am particularly proud of this talk because I put a lot of time into it as I thought about the metaphor of the wrestling platform with our life platform. By drawing a parallel for the kids, I challenged them with a powerful visual to encourage them to make good choices as they grow up to become adults.

I truly believe as coaches we need to marry the good habits of athletic discipline with the academic discipline of reading and literacy. If we can get more kids diligently and regularly reading just like doing their push-ups, we will have given them a great gift for their future. Knowing what I know about the brain and the way it reacts to stimuli, there is no better way to exercise your brain than by reading!

I am continuing to refine this talk and hope to deliver it many times in the future. I want to make it the very best I can, so I welcome your feedback.

I want to thank you for letting me share my latest endeavors with you. I'm looking forward to April and the latest advancements on my upcoming book that I hope to tell you more about then. Talk soon!

Warm regards,
Mark
