 April General Meeting

The general meeting in the Berger Center will be on Friday April 12th, at 10 am for refreshments, 10:30 am for the presentation.  Julia Geist, a docent from the De Young Museum, will discuss the current Monet Exhibition which many of us took a bus trip to see last month.

News of Interest to OAA Members

The new art work for the East Rec Center is now hung in the upstairs section.  Four works for the downstairs area will be hung after the downstairs renovations are completed, and those in the upstairs section are protected from dust and damage and not openly displayed at this point.  We hope to complete the hanging process in early April.

The Oakmont Community Foundation gave us a grant that we used to replace the old heavy pegboard displays in the Berger Center with modern lightweight wire grid ones.  This will make the art display in our annual October Show more accessible and viewable.  Thanks OCF!

Here are a few of the wire mesh panels.

Hangings

Susan Berg is the current featured artist for two months in the Berger Center.  Susan has lived in Oakmont with her mother for 25 years, and is now planning her move to Roseville where she can be close to her 2 young grandsons.

Her artistic talent was first recognized in the First Grade when she won the Marin County all city schools annual art contest with a tempera painting of a Pegasus horse on 3 foot wide butcher paper!

Over the years her medium changed from oils and acrylics to watercolor.   For the last 30 years, she has worked exclusively in watercolor, and has won many more awards since the First Grade.

Please plan to visit her solo exhibit of original artwork and framed prints in the Berger Center from March 10 through May 10.
