It has been a delight this last week to meet with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ in the Lutheran Nordkirke church in Mecklenburg-Vorpommen.  Spending time in both Güstrow and Rostock, we have joined them at their equivalent of Diocesan synod.  At other times we took the opportunity to visit and learn from some of their church schools and work with refugees, the homeless, the disabled and much more.  Pictured above are the Lichfield contingent in the cathedral in Gustrow with Pastor Christian Höser, and a windswept visit to the site of the 2007 G8 in Bad Doberan with Änne Lange and Tilman Jeremias (next Bishop of Mecklenburg-Vorkommen).

Lent Pilgrim App

LentPilgrim, the new 40-day discipleship journey from the Church of England for Lent 2019 exploring The Beatitudes is now available to download.

The app is ideal for anyone to use daily in Lent – starting from Ash Wednesday and finishing 40 days later on Palm Sunday.  The 40 daily reflections on The Beatitudes – eight beautiful sayings at the heart of Jesus’ teaching – are grouped in eight groups of five days on each beatitude and include

  • A theme linked to the beatitude
  • A suggested short Bible reading that explores that theme
  • A short reflection by Steven Croft (Bishop of Oxford)
  • A suggestion of how to pray
  • A prompt to act.
Now available to download via the Google or Apple App Stores, or here.

If you wish to remain on the electoral roll, you MUST sign up again this year.  This year, the revision will occur as follows:

3rd - 24th March:  Notification of Revision to the Roll in the Pew Sheet and Churches

3rd March - 31st March:  Electoral Roll forms available to be completed (all forms must arrive by the 31st March)

14th April:  Revised Roll available in all churches for inspection prior to the APCM on the 28th April.

News from our School

This week in our school -

  • Children from EYFS (Nursery and Reception) visited Ash End farm and had the opportunity to feed a variety of animals including sheep, goats, ducks and horses.
  • Year five had a special delivery - Pizzas to help explore fractions and mathematics (followed by an opportunity to eat!)
  • We said congratulations to Mrs Graham on the birth of her beautiful baby Amelie Grace, born last week.
  • Our girls came first in a cross-country competition.   Congratulations to Ella (yr 6) on being the individual gold winner over three races.
  • The church may have their work cut out to match the amazing figure raised by the School to Twin one of our church toilets.  Smartie tubes are still available in the back of the churches to buy, eat, and fill with coins.  Please return your tubes at any time between Lent and Easter.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,

God bless,

Fr Graham
