30th March

Hello from all of us here at the Irish Family History Centre and welcome to our latest newsletter!

Read on this week to discover our Research Tip from Expert Genealogist, Fiona Fitzsimons, who discusses tracing landless labourers, and our Spotlight on Publications continues that theme with a look at The Landowner's and Agents Practical Guide.

For anyone in and around Dublin in the near future, our Postcard from Ireland looks at the Dublin Theatre scene and we have lots of events, from Genealogy Advisory Service at Blanchardstown to our next Expert Workshop, for you to discover below.

Furthermore, our 4-week Introduction to Genealogy Course at the Irish Family History Centre kicked off this month and we would like to extend our thanks for another successful term at Trinity College.

Finally, we're putting the finishing touches on our Spring 2019 edition of Irish Lives Remembered - so keep an eye out for Issue 44 next week! You can still view our Autumn/Winter 2018 and past issues until then.

Enjoy your weekend!

SPOTLIGHT ON PUBLICATIONS
Landowner's & Agent's Practical Guide
Our Spotlight connects to our research tip with regards to working the land, but in contrast it focuses on the legal obligations of landowners.
Published in 1872, shortly before the outbreak of the Land War in Ireland, the sixth edition of The Landowner's and Agents Practical Guide not only provides a history of land tenure in Ireland but also explains exactly what the legal rights and obligations of the landlord and land agent were towards their tenants. It is the definitive guide to land law in Ireland before the Land War changed everything.
Research Tip of the Week!

This week's Research Tip is given by Expert Genealogist, Fiona Fitzsimons, who discusses tracing landless labourers.
