Design II Showcase: Instructional Quality

Leaning into skills for the workplace

Students in the Welding/Fabrication Technology program at Fort Vancouver High School Center for International Studies experience the benefit of real-world job training without leaving the classroom. Thanks to a partnership with Northwest High Performance Enterprise Consortium—a group of more than 45 local manufacturing and STEM companies—welding students are learning skills necessary to succeed in today’s workplace. Beyond technical skills, students learn the value of collaboration, communication and efficiency. Developing these leadership skills and equipping students with tools for solving problems and improving processes will help them excel in any career.

From Vancouver to Kuwait: Kindness travels

Every Friday before school begins, students at Ogden Elementary meet for Kindness Club. Their acts of service include making teddy bears for kids who face difficult circumstances at home and paracord bracelets for military personnel. Watch this video to find out where one of the bracelets ended up and what the recipient had to say after he received it.
