Ukrainian Egg dyed ostrich eggs
An Ukrainian Egg Exhibit of dyed ostrich eggs is currently on display now through Easter.
Local artist, Sharon Bailey, has recently written a book, featuring her ostrich eggs and scripture. In it you will learn the purposeful meanings behind the elegant and intricate designs. "God's Love in an Eggshell,” beautifully weaves together the ancient art of pysanky with the the love story of the Bible. Her book is also available at Meadville Fine Arts.

Pysanka - Pysanky
A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysanky, "to write" or "to inscribe", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. Many other eastern European ethnic groups decorate eggs using wax resist for Easter. These include the Belarusians, Bulgarians, Carpatho-Rusyns, Croats, Czechs, Hungarians, Lithuanians, Poles, Romanians, Serbs, Slovaks, Slovenes. (Wikipedia)
Other New Gallery Pieces . . .
Here are a few new pieces that have come into our gallery over the past few months

We have eight beautiful original oil painting by DP Warner. DP is a Meadville resident and a retired Art Professor. He enjoys plein air painting.

(Plein air (or pleinair), landscape paintings which are physically created "in the open air" rather than painted indoors based on sketches of the outdoors. Particularly associated with impressionist painting. (Wikipedia))

Karen Cortese has brought in some beautiful hand painted slates and hand carved and painted wooden clocks. These will appeal to those who like more rustic items. She does a very good job of capturing wildlife in her paintings. She also takes commissions for custom signs, scrolled wooden plaques, ceramic tile wall plaques.

Candi Benek has joined our elite group of artists with a couple of beautiful vibrant canvas wrapped ocean sunset photos.

Logan Hasbrouck has also brought in a photo and a painting for exhibit .
He is new to exhibiting and painting but is very promising.

We just took in several drawings by the late J.D. Hopkins for resale from a client who is downsizing.
