Almsgiving is an ancient Lenten practice. Giving money to the poor, whether in the cups of panhandlers or writing checks to charity, opens our grip and makes more space in us for our neighbor and God's presence, which, in the end, is the only security we have.

One way to give money to the poor is through the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering. Fish banks will be available on Sunday, along with the giving calendar. If your budget is tight, Lent is also a good time to keep our shopping and leisure habits at their most basic--then use what you save to support those who are in need.
Our Lenten group is exploring spiritual practices for every day. Roni Murray is our guide. This week we will consider the practice of pronouncing blessing.

Everyone is welcome to join us for a time of reflection and practice. It's never too late to join this group.
Celebrating the Fourth Sunday in Lent

Traditionally, the 4th Sunday in Lent is called Laetare ("Rejoice!") Sunday, and is a day of joyful celebration in the middle of our Lenten journey. On this day (and every day) we rejoice in the sure knowledge that we are loved sinners.

We'll hear Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son--a wonderful picture of God's loving reconciliation in action.
