The Lindleys in Papua New Guinea (PNG)

June 2019

To Every Season...

"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot"

- Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (NIV)

In the late afternoon on May 21st (PNG time) Todd received a call from his brother, Chris, that their 68-year old mom had unexpectedly passed away (possible stroke, we'll never know on 'this side' of eternity). | The picture above is of colleagues & friends of Todd who gathered to pray for the situation the very next morning. It was a rich and edifying time amidst the chaos of shock and grief. (pc: Ch. Owens)
PRAYER POINTS:
  • Please pray for our family as we seek to transition well from PNG to Oregon, USA for our upcoming six-month home assignment - both as a family unit and individually for Andrew and Alyssa.
  • Again, Andrew will be transitioning to living full-time in the States (college) for the first time since 2011 and Alyssa will be attending a public high school for the first half of her upcoming 11th grade year before the three of us head back to PNG next January.
  • Pray for my mom's Celebration-of-Life service on June 28 at 2PM (Sweet Home Community Chapel in Oregon) to be one that truly celebrates her while allowing those of us who loved her deeply to grieve and process well.
  • Huge PRAISE that we're all able to attend this precious time!
  • Pray that our home here in PNG would be rented out while we're away (we don't currently have any renters).
On June 18th Andrew will be graduating from Ukarumpa International High School. As parents we couldn't be more thrilled and proud of what he has accomplished both in the classroom, on the courts and fields and in his community among his peers. As was stated in March, Andrew will begin school at Northwest Christian University in Eugene, OR (USA) this fall. (pc: Alyssa Lindley)
Andrew and his date at "Banquet" - the Ukarumpa version of a prom/senior all night party rolled into one. (pc: K. Weaver)
Thank you for your support of our Wycliffe ministry over these past many years. It has been--and is--an honor to serve in the work of supporting Bible translation through business management and teaching. Couldn't do it without you!

We're at 85% of our total budget (the 'dip' is mainly due to the fact our foreign-based missionary budget has recently increased) and look forward to how the Lord will once again fully prepare us for the 'field' by the end of this year. (pc: S. Frey)
